Write Out Your Goals and Objectives

Always learn to write out your goals and objectives, this will help you to stay focused and assess your accomplishments/short-comings. Get a small writing pad or notebook and write out your goals/objectives, also, set target dates for these goals. By doing this, you will be able to have a timeline to guide you.

Remember, we live in a very busy world and it is easy for one to lose track of one's set goals. If you don't have access to a pen and writing pad, you can set up reminders on your mobile phones, the average mobile phone has capabilities to set up reminders, thus with this unique devices, you can always stay abreast your goals/objectives.

With every goal you accomplish, always celebrate it, give yourself a little treat, go out with pals, eat at a fine restaurant, go to the bar, go watch movies, just spoil yourself a little, the more you celebrate your accomplishments no matter how little the accomplishment might be, the more you will yearn deep within yourself to accomplish more objectives.

Keep Striving, Keep Believing, Never Give Up. Winners Don't Quit and Quitters Don't Win.

  • I've read somewhere that 90% of the most successful people in history all wrote out their goals. I'll see if I can track down that info.

Writing them down and reading them as often as possible helps to anchor your goals in your subconscious. Which in turn creates the right mindset. Remember to phrase your goal in the present and as positive as possible. For example: "I allow myself to be a non-smoker" is much more effective than "I want to quit smoking". Now that you are thinking about it stop what you are doing and write down your goal.
    To Your Success,

A useful way of making goals more powerful is to use the SMART mnemonic. While there are plenty of variants (some of which we've included in parenthesis), SMART usually stands for:
      • S - Specific (or Significant).
      • M - Measurable (or Meaningful).
      • A - Attainable (or Action-Oriented).
      • R - Relevant (or Rewarding).
      • T - Time-bound (or Trackable).

It's always necessary to do so. An aimless life is like living in a jungle with nothing but a weapon and food to eat.

I always write dates with my goals as well, to give me something to work towards.

Someone once told me to make them:
    Specific
    Measurable
    Achievable
    Reasonable
    Timely

All that to say, having a specific timeframe really helps.

It gives us a physical reference as to where we're going. The goals that're written down are like a lighthouse - it'll guide us when we're lost out there in the raging waves.

I use a goal setting program, free, that helps me everyday to focus on my 2 day- one week target, my 2-6 month target, and my longer term target.

I find I get energized when I start my day focusing on what I'm trying to accomplish.

the software by Mark Joyner, called simpleology.com (free)

I have found dated goals to be annoying, counter productive and limiting not only in me but in others as well. I've seen dated goals destroy more ambitions than not.

Never have I enjoyed more massive success as I did once I deleted all my dated goals. Nature (and the way of things) is far more powerful than most (restrictive) human dated goals. In my situation having dated goals would have meant losing hundreds of thousands of dollars because I would have been "happy" to achieve my dated goal and would have stopped from satiation destroying the full potential of my work and effort.

As soon as I lifted, burned (with matches and real fire), and got rid of all my dated goals my life started to rocket along at a pace I would never have planned for - almost immediately (though that was most likely a coincidence that next day).

Dated goals can be (and more often than not are) extremely destructive and highly limiting. Don't be so quick to go along with the whole "dated goals" doctrine. It has many many flaws and will keep you down more often than it will help you out. If you need a written goal to keep you focused then maybe what your focusing on is not true to your core values.

Instead, I use "Aims" (undated "goals" if you like) that define a general direction with no specific dated goal other than to get the most out of each day and to head in a general direction. The end point is irrelevant, deflative and often annoying and negative. Ever got angry because you missed a goal or it became obvious that you weren't going to achieve a goal? How did you feel about yourself? I bet you were VERY HARSH on yourself and called yourself all sorts of derogatory names and beat yourself up probably for months (or in many cases years) afterward.

That's an example of the negative power a dated goal can have. And when you miss dated goals on a regular basis it has a devastating effect on your self confidence. Instead, I focus on what I can do today. Today is all that matters and what I do today is largely governed by undated goals and aims.

The past is history, tomorrow's a mystery. Today is all we have.

    That's what I reckon anyway.
