Where are You Headed?

Last summer my daughter and I too a long weekend and drove from Chicago to Boston, funny how much time one has to ponder life's questions on a 20 hour cross country drive. One thought that started small and began to grow was: "If we treated all our projects in life as a road trip we would arrive at many more of the destinations we are seeking." How's that you ask? Well when we started out we decided we were going to Boston to see the Red Sox play, simple enough project, right? So we got the tickets, made hotel reservations, rented a car and we were off. Not once did we think "we aren't going to make it", "what if we fail", "what if .....". We simply got in the car, headed east and followed the map, that's correct I said map. If we used the same approach with all the projects in our life the results would be phenomenal. You see from the beginning of our discussions about this particular trip we both knew the objective which was to experience a Red Sox game at Fenway. As we planned the trip I could see the entire project unfold in my mind's eye. We stayed focused which is what we often lack in the realization of a goal. If we had said we can go to Yankee Stadium, Coor's Field or the Eiffel Tower, we would have not had a focus, as a result we would not have experienced the realization of our goal. So I'm asking where are you headed and are you focused on that, or are your heart's desires merely twisting in the breeze.

Suggestion:
Write your goal down and read it every chance you get until you can see it in your mind's eye. When we write our goal down we it has more energy and it is much easier to focus on.

To Your Success,
Mike
