  3. To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
  4. To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticise others.

Why exactly 7 promises? There are a thousand more that I would like to add to it. But why only 7? Because it has a relation to 7 days a week?

Because you'll end up breaking every one of them - it's important to break things down to bite-sized chunks, and tackle these promises you make to yourself one at a time.

Or, in this case, 7 at a time.

In that case rule number one should be... Be committed

Work on these 7 until they became a part of your nature, then move on to the next 7. We can all carry around a book with us and preach, but what counts is what we live!

Prayer, visualization, affirmation and belief have played a vital role in my online journey. I think the only thing that keeps people from succeeding is not having the right mental picture carved in their head so they can succeed. When you first start out you have absolutely no idea where you are going or whether or not you are going to make any money. But through trial and error and meeting the right people, you'll definitely reach your destination if you stick with it and are persistent. What I believe would really improve any day of the week is if you came across an IMer who's making the type of income you would like to and then to ask them tons of questions. I've been doing that for awhile now and couldn't be happier =) all of the secrets are being revealed to me.

I believe that making promises to ones' self is a true measure of how much dedication you have toward your life and self. And in following it becomes an outward expression of an inward comittment. It reminds me of The Deuce Lutui Story. I recommend everyone listen to his story. It's truly remarkable. http://www.tbolitnfl.com/

Well said! I'm sure I'm not the only one who has struggled with keeping promises to myself. The crucial thing I've learned is that thinking about taking action is way worse than actually doing it. If I can shut that negative mental chatter down and just start on what I need to do, I soon get on a roll and I don't want to stop! But if I listen to the litany of excuses and rationalizations, I'll never start. I've learned to love the process of making myself do what I don't want to do!

My favorite one! I love this phrase. Worry, anger and fear can hold you captive and keep you from getting out in the world and achieving great success!

I think the basic message is to focus on what you can do (your goals, your attitude, your actions) and let go of the things you cannot change. Keeping busy making your own dreams come true and celebrating in the success of others. Lovely post!
