Can Problems Make You Stronger, Wiser or Better?

There's a Chinese proverb that says, "Your victories don't make you stronger - But overcoming your problems do!"

What problem(s) have you overcome that have made you a little stronger, wiser or better? Thanks for sharing.

For example, one problem I have overcome that has made me better is losing a business a few years back. It's made me more careful about the ones I have now. I now pay more attention to the non-sexy parts of the business like record keeping, customers follow up and taxes.

I wish I could share a story with you but I am still in the challenge, trying to get ahead mode.

In my case, I think its going to be if I can not get out of the funk I am in now, break out and start to make some money, this will be the time that adversity won and I will defiantly not be any stronger for it.

Fortunately you're in the right place. Start a thread and share your problem. There's about 100,000 friends ready to offer advice, encouragement or direction.

Sometimes just expressing your problems to others verbally or in writing can give you a break through idea, solution or avenue to follow. It's worked for me more than once when faced with a "I don't know what to do next" problem.

      Peace and Blessings!

One problem I had growing up was that I wanted to change the world. I saw that things weren't right and I wanted to fix them. I didn't understand why people wouldn't want to change everything and I would get very misanthropic. It actually led to a very dark period in my life.

I've since learned a lot about the world and have come to the realization that I can affect much more change with financial power than I could ever hope to as some self proclaimed martyr.

Most of my life hasn't been easy, actually, but I don't think I would go back and change it because it has made me who I am and has given me the understanding that I now enjoy.

Problems can make you stronger depending on how you react to them, if you are able to view them as temporary situations, then you can overcome, learn from them and move on. However, if you view them as a curse from God and get envious and angry with yourself and those around you, it may end up making you a worse person and retrogress instead.

Basically problems can make us wiser even more. For they are being hurdled at us to know how smart we are to tackle of the things that we think are so hard. But beyond that, there are some good reasons on why we are experiencing some problems in our lives and that is merely some kind of testing ourselves on how strong or how smart we really are.

It is how one faces their challenges that either strengthens them, or defeats them.

To face a problem and overcome it successfully, there is a specific mindset that is required.
There are 3 steps to develop this mindset that overcomes problems and allows an individual
to grow in confidence and power.
        • The first step in developing this mindset is to trust that there is a solution available.
        • The next step is to believe the solution is available right now.
        • The next thing one needs to do is to believe that the solution is available right now to you, and that it will present itself in some way at the most appropriate time as you move forward trusting that the answer will indeed present itself to you.
Moving forward with this state of mind frees the mind from negative emotions which only serve to freeze the creative apparatus and allows it to work freely again; it creates and sustains a positive expectancy of a successful outcome as you continue moving forward to a successful resolution; and it opens the filters of ones perception, making one able to recognize and become aware of resources and opportunities that would otherwise remain outside of ones awareness; bringing one into alignment and harmony with the universe, activating the law of attraction in the process, so things seem to happen serendipitously, and sometimes, even miraculously.

I fully believe problems make you stronger, wiser and better. If nothing ever goes wrong, how do you learn strive to become better?

Did Michael Jordon become a better basketball player because he won every game? Hell no! He worked every single day to maintain his talents and improve upon his weaknesses. That work ethic took him from a kid who got cut from a junior high team to the greatest basketball player in the world.

Harmony with the universe is very important.

    Gmedes has a good point.

That is the real success. Everything else is helping you to get there, including tough times. haha, I know about tough times myself

Once you start understanding how to master yourself, everything else including IM, becomes just a matter of slowly walking the walk a bit everyday.

See if you'll get where you want to go in 1000 days with careful steps everyday

The Chinese use the same symbol to represent "danger" and "opportunity" - it's all how you respond to the situation.

If you are willing to look at your mistakes and be an "opportunity finder" who looks for the lessons you can learn, the lessons you can teach others and other ways that the situation can be used for good, then you'll learn, grow and come out even better on the other side of the challenge.

I know when I first experienced great success, I made the mistake of running my expenses and frivolous spending right up along with my income. So, when I took a big hit, I lost it all. But, having learned my lesson the hard way, the second time around I've made it a point to live way below the income even as it grows to greater levels than it did before.

There's so much greater security in knowing that even if business as I know it would end tomorrow, I can go years without a dime coming in and still live comfortably.

Another plus side is that my family and I learned to enjoy and appreciate each other and the simple stuff - so I don't have a bunch of kids fixated on what they can get and appreciative of everything they have.

    Just my thoughts anyway,

    Thom

As long as you keep fighting and never give up, you will always come out better then you were before.

I've failed at way more things then I have won, but whenever I fail I just pick myself back up, learn what I can and move on to the next thing- the only way you truly can lose is if you give up!

Problems can make or break you. It depends if you have the right mindset or not. Some get frustrated or give up if a problem arises while some accepts it as a challenge. We live in a real world and problems will always be there, you just have to know what to do with it.

i have lost a business too and with it i have lost a lot of money and social status! but i think the hardest thing for me was losing my best friend to cancer in 2010. i think how we react to tough times can determine if we will learn something from it or not. some people will develop a victim personality and act negatively towards everything while others will continue living and learning whether its done consciously or unconsciously!
i think what doesn't kill you can either make you stronger or stranger!
