Internet Marketing Success Mindset

Hello Everyone

My name is Daniel and I have been lurking on these forums for a while. I have only made a small amount of money online and I chalk that up to having a bad mindset.

Well, I am fed up with my day job and with debt and I am really serious about making money online. So, it's time for a change of attitude.

No more half baked schemes to make money online. I'm going all out. I am comitting to 1 to 2 hours per day on actionable steps to grow my online business.

But the truth is, it's so easy to get demoralized and spend my time doing worthless crap that isn't going to get any results.

So here is what I will do to change that.

1. Ask you all to hold me accountable. I will update this thread with my progress. If you see me slacking, give me a slap!

2. Pump myself up before it's time to work. Instead of thinking, "Oh gosh, ok now I have to work," I will say to myself "Lets go and make some money!"

3. Prayer. I'm a Christian and prayer is something that should be a bigger part of my life. I'll focus on taking care of my spiritual self so I can be more energized and focused.

    Hi,
One of the most important things is to STAY IN FOCUS and ACT. Don’t go from one system/technique to another. Stay with Affiliate Marketing, Article Marketing, Niche marketing ….. or what ever you are interested in until you earn some money, at least give one thing a chance before trying out something to expand on. Don’t buy a load of products from all so-called “GURUS” out there. There are a loooot… of good products in this forum.

    I’ll follow your progress!!!

    Good luck!!!

Thanks for reading and the encouragement everyone. Here's what I did yesterday for my business.

Not much. I really only did a little bit of social bookmarking at a revenue sharing bookmarking site. Me and my wife are on a Harry Potter kick right now since we haven't seen the movies before and decided to give them a shot.

Obviously, I need more focus. I think my main focus for a while will be one of my Amazon niche sites. It's getting 10-15 daily traffic but no one is clicking on the links. So, I think I will focus on ranking that for more targeted keywords, and optimizing conversions by adding more basic text links and better reviews.

If I can rank it for all of the primary keywords I've chosen, I think I can get at least 100 visitors per day, if not more, that will also help me figure out my conversion rates better.

It's great you've got a plan and focus - stick with it and don't get distracted.

Amazon can be good but you'll need a number of sites to make a good living - some just don't work out, while others really take off.

So my tip is not to put all your effort on one website - aim to build 5-10 in different or related niches.

Once you have one set up you can use some website cloning software to basically copy the website and just change the graphics & content. It need not be too difficult.

      Good luck!

Yes, I already have a handful of Amazon sites up, and some of those are leading to piddly amounts of sales. Right now I am focusing on getting one of them to rank better and convert better. Then I will do the same with the others. Thanks for the advice.

Alright! Lets get going everyone. Most people in IM quit before they see real success. If they would just stick it out and stay focused, they would eventually figure things out. It's easy to get discouraged when you see meager results.

Here's what I'm working on now:

My Amazon Niche site I mentioned uses a plugin to automatically pull data from Amazon, including price, product description, and customer reviews. This isn't great for SEO and in my niche it's not good for conversions either since the product descriptions tend to be not that great.

What I'm doing is going into each post and adding my own unique content for SEO and conversions. I am also adding internal links to pages on my site that I want Google to take more notice of from within the content of my articles. This will be below the fold because I'd rather they clicked through to Amazon, so I am also adding basic text links out to Amazon above the fold.

I've only added these things to a few posts, so this will be my focus until it's done. After that, external backlinks to the pages I want to rank will be my next focus.

I thought of adding the backlinks first and then adding more content after that, but I would rather get the content on there from the start so that my conversions are good before I start focusing on traffic.

I was getting rather lazy on article writing but this has somehow motivated me for my site then focus on traffic later, thanks

Here's a new update. I didn't really do much of anything with my Amazon site yesterday because I decided to work on another site instead. This one is a offline marketing type of site that I have just had sitting around.

My plan for this site is to get it ranked on page one for it's key term. Once it's there I can offer it to local businesses for rent. I might also try collecting leads with it to sell separately if I can't rent the site out, or as a selling point when I try to rent it out.

What I did with this was added a custom banner to the header and added an extra post to try to nudge it up in the rankings. It's on page 2 now. Also a little backlinking but nothing too aggressive.

Next I will get an opt-in form on there and an image saying something like "Your Business Here".

I will also continue to work on the Amazon site.

if going all out, you may need more than one authority site to make you good money..and another strategy in addition to amazon.
