Desperation, Being Overwhelmed and Burnout
As others have said in this forum before, if you need money immediately you're not going to get it right away with IM. Is it possible? Sure, but it is very unlikely and you're only going to become burned out and frustrated and then eventually quit.
The cold hard truth is that you're going to have to make some sacrifices in the short term to take care of the immediate financial need. Whether it's selling your X-Box or working nights at McDonald's, you do what you have to do to survive.
I know a lot of this is a repeat of what continually comes up in this forum, but recent emails have made me realize that people still think that the IM road is paved with gold and they should be able to become millionaires in a week. I think two of the biggest reasons for failure is either A) wanting something for nothing or B) becoming burned out when the projected thousands don't come rolling in.
I think success is largely based on the individual. People learn differently, work at different speeds and have different motivations for wanting to make money online. The best way to get started is to begin slowly and make a commitment to do at least something every day. I myself was very burned out in the beginning because I felt like I had to have all of this work done in one day. This gave me a sense of being in over my head to where I would push myself for a week, become totally burned out and then not do anything for a few months.
I now have a new approach where I drip feed content each day. Some days I might put out 10 articles, other days I might only do 1. This slow and steady drip has really produced a snowball effect where sales are beginning to grow and I'm now making some headway. I also eliminated several domains that weren't performing because I was too busy trying this and that and not becoming good at one thing. Now, by sticking with just the one technique, It's starting to pay off. This of course wasn't over night.
The point here is that if you're only focused on the money (as in the case of those that are in a spot financially), you're going to act out of desperation without clear thought. If you take the idea of "I'll just do something every day and if I make money great, if I have to wait for the money, that's ok too", you're taking a lot of pressure off of yourself. You're giving yourself permission to have fun with it without feeling like if this particular effort fails it's the end of the world. I know it is a business and should be treated as such, but don't kill yourself trying. All of these quotes of "massive action" don't necessarily mean all in the same day. It doesn't matter if you're taking one step each day or sprinting while taking 5 steps at a time. What matters is what YOU can do each day.
Once I slowed down a little and focused on one technique, I realized that this really isn't that hard......
Cheers!!
