Building Self-confidence and Importance of the Follow through

Not too long ago , A "From Good to Great" Book surve was done of the best 1400 best companies in the world to find out the top 2 qualities of the CEO 's of top 1400 companies .

Can you guess what the top 2 qualities were ? The first quality was humility. The second quality was an ability to see the job through .

Lets look at the final quality again : an ability to see the job through . Why is this so rare and lacking that it makes it to the top 2 ?

Well , the reason is that most people myself rarely ever see thing through on their own unless there is some kind of negative consequence they are trying to avoid or they are already very self-discipline.

You may look very impressive folks by starting well but it is not the starting well that counts it is finishing well that counts .

Not quitting . Not burning out . Not starting bright and burning out . Consistent hard work till you get to the finish line that counts .Consistent hard work till you get to the end .

In fact, most entrepreneurs know how to start well but the finshing can be lacking.

You keep churning ideas but you don't execute very well .Have you ever made a promise to your self and break it immediately ? Have you ever started something well and not see it through completion ?

Well , me too for both questions . I can honestly say me too 500 times because i have broken that many promises and abandoned too many things before completion.

A good mentor holds you accountable . they help you get on track to your desired destination and help you to stay on track .This is very important . Someone holding you accountable is crucial because they help you get that necessary follow through .

Without following through on the knowledge you have learnt or on your ideas. You end up not taking the actions enough to produce results . and nothing changes

If you just make the promise to yourself , you don't have to do it because nobody is watching or so we think ? The truth is that you are watching .

You notice when you keep your promises or not . It is easy to make a promise Afterall , a promise is what you say you would do . It is easy to say what you would do .

The real work is in follow through what you say do . If for instance you say you would lose 10 pounds in 60 days by jogging an hour every morning and you do not .

You know you have not lost the 10 pounds like you said you would. You did not keep your word .

Every time you keeping breaking your word , you are less and less sure that you would keep your word in the future .

The best way to build self-confidence is to make commitments and KEEP THEM .

Here are some suggestions on what you can do now

1. Make comitment you can know you can keep : Start easy commitments you can keep . For instance , I made a commitment to start reading so I promised myself that i would start I reading at least 3 paragraphs a day untill i finished the book . First month i first a book . I had never done that before . I got excited ...Some days , I would read more than 3 paragraphs a day but I made sure that no matter what i read at least three paragraph a day.
Soon enough i was finishing books in 2 weeks all because of one easy action i took every day . Reading 3 paragraphs a day

It is easy to read 3 paragraphs, you can do that in 360 seconds or less.

2. Involve other people in your comitment or promises and give them the permission to nag you if it doesn't get done : When you make a commitment to somebody else , the person would expect you to follow through on your word . If you fail to do that, you would be embarrased to tell them that you have done anything

But if you know at the end of the week , your mentor would call you and ask about your progress, you are more likely to sit up because you don't want to look bad in the eyes of your mentor.

Pay to have a mentor guide you through the process . Pay for their experience because it would save you time which is more value than the money itself .You would save yourself years and years in mistakes and trying to figure it out on your own .

Mentors can teach you shortcuts because they have been there .They can introduce you to movers and shakers of your industry and expand your circle of influence .

You need a mentor . Get a good mentor one today ...

The major reason many people lack follow through is lack of vision and purpose. As the saying goes, " When purpose is not known, abuse becomes inevitable." When there is vision and purpose from the onset, there is strenght and follow-up determination to get to the finish line.
