ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE?

Anything is possible. I've heard this all the time by big motivational gurus, and I do think that actually everything is possible if you have the right mindset. And then, I thought... what if people who come to the forum share their story of how they've done something that seemed impossible (for most people and even for them), but were able to make it real and completely possible.

Share your story here...

I think it will serve as good motivation for everyone to start taking action on things that seems to be impossible to do or make.

Thank you.

Hate to be a downer, but I disagree with the premise that "anything is possible." I understand the benefits of positive thinking (or at least think I do), but I believe the positivism should be mixed with a dose of reality.

In fact, I believe we do our kids a disservice by throwing down the trite "you can be anything you wanna be" pep talk. That's just not true.

When I was a kid, I wanted to be an NFL quarterback. Wasn't ever going to happen. I simply wasn't born with the physical tools. No amount of hard work, no amount of believing was going to make it happen. It was simply and literally impossible.

Not every dream is possible to fulfill. IMO, the ability to evaluate 'a dream' and determine whether it's realistically achievable is one major factor that separates the successful from the dreamers.

I hope it's ok to say I disagree with all of this strongly.

I think the only part I agree with is sports skills, if you havent got the body, the height, the extra physical advantage then its going to be really tough to excell and reach the top... but on an intellectual level or a "working hard" to achieve massive success level... I do think anything is possible.

Alternatively anyone successful I know can tell 100 stories about how they overcame unrealistic setbacks, hard times, failures along the way - this, imo is what actually sets those who are successful aside from those who are not.

And I think by thinking "realistically" is actually limiting yourself more than you know. While you are thinking realistically, someone else is thinking big and dreaming, and I don't think many people make it big by thinking "realistically", but practically every success story starts with someone thinking big...
