What A self Help Product Is All About

Let me breakdown What A self Help Product Is All About

The techniques like NLP, NAC, ZSC, etc are all the same with tiny twists and angles.

A self help book/Video/Course is all about explaining to people about GOD who is then expressed as Intelligent designer, Universal Source, Source of Energy, etc

We then explain to people how all things were formed from this Energy and that it is limitless and we too are capable of great things

We quickly hope to the MIND FACTOR and we explain how everything that happens to you begins from you mind. SUBCONSCIOUS, CONSCIOUS, SUPER CONSCIOUS MIND

This brings us to these topics.....Thoughts, Imagination, faith, belief, expressing gratitude so that you stay in a positive mindframe, etc

Then we talk about intuition, emotions, your perception to yourself - self esteem and how you should always see yourself in a positive frame.....you become what you think, speak of, etc

Face your fears, see life bigger, appreciate people, live life without fear

A bit of writing your goals down, building self discipline, etc

That's about it in a tiny brief. What do you guys think. Did I do justice with this explanation? That is how I see it

What about you????

P.S. It is always a pleasure to read all the books if possible as you wil always learn something from everybody. But nothing is knew, just explained differently

Not trying to be antagonistic in any way but your post sounds like: "All an author has to do is rehash this stuff and out comes a new work."

If that is the case, then this explains why most of the self-improvement books are pure hype.

    Does everyone feel this way?

I recall someone saying that going to a live seminar was like being on a three-day high. Then, unfortunately, it wears off and you are right back where you were.

While I admit that I have experienced that at one time or another, usually years ago, it is no longer the case for me. Perhaps it is because I am older (58) or perhaps it is because I have already gone down that road so many times.

Motivation-as-a-drug simply isn't going to get it for me. A metaphor would be the New Year's resolution. For most people, they just never last. In fact, they rarely get out of January.

We need something better than that?

Perhaps that translates into "something different." I don't know. But I certainly know that what you described in your post would leave me with an attitude that says, "Is that all there is?" when I was finished.

In another thread, I mentioned Anthony Robbins' Personal Power as the best course I had ever taken. Don't get me wrong... He is not one of my heroes. Simply put, I don't have "heroes." They always turn out to be very "human" in the end. (Robbins is no exception.)

However, that course, perhaps because you have to take it for thirty days - and anyone who can do anything for even 30 days is way ahead of most other people - that course changes lives. At least it changed mine.

His book - Awaken the Giant Within is the same way. It is a text book for change.

I think most of his other stuff falls into the category that you described in your post - just another does of the motivational drug.

There are other materials I have seen that can really effect change. For example, there is an old, out-of-print subliminal tape series - The Subliminal Winner by Thomas Budzynski that changed my life. So much so, that I gave about 30 copies away to my friends.

The year that I obtained that series, I immersed myself in it 4-6 hours per day while I was working. At the time I was scratching out a living, and working for toher people. It helped me change my life. It gave me the courage to start my own business. And, it tripled my income two years in a row. (Of course, I was making spit when I started, so the first triple was easy.)

Then I stopped listening. Two years later I was out of business and had to start over. Now, 15 years later, I am listening to it again and I'm back!

This subliminal series is the only one that I ever found to have an impact. And it was different. There was a different format to it. If anyone is interested I will explain why.

    Enough.

    Regards,
    Dave S.

Wow Dave, first of, Congratulations for getting back on top form.

Yes, Like the old proverb, "there is no temptation that is not common to all man"

We all go through various situations and circumstances, but the pain or pleasure is the same.

I do like self improvement work, but most of the staff taught is part of what we have already covered here.

For example, Tony Robbins as you mentioned. His products, personal power and awaken the giant.....they all talk about goals, emotions, emotional intelligent, gratitude, self-discipline, etc

All they do is to present it different with various twists and angles. My mentor calls it RE PURPOSING YOUR INFORMATION

      Now, is it BAD thing?......NO

I don't mind reading the material....It continues to polish me and making me wise. I Love reading self help work.

But that is all there is to it really. Still important as I believe everyone in the world should know this kind of stuff.
