10 Best Countries For An Internet Marketer To Live

by Finch

I've always found one of the best rewards of being a full-time online marketer to be the ability to travel. I hate being rooted to one spot.

Lifestyle arbitrage is something I think all marketers should consider to get the maximum quality of living from whatever they're earning. What you're earning in America could be enough to live like a king in another part of the world (unlikely these days, America is dirt cheap).

You've probably heard the stories of young, single professionals flocking to Thailand, right?

I put together my ten recommendations for the best countries to live in for an online professional. Check them out: 10 Best Countries To Live In For The Online Professional : Finch Blogs

Is there anywhere you would consider moving to reap the rewards of your online income?

Most people don't realise the true potential of what our careers actually entail. Making full time income from the web is like a gateway to enjoy the world. A gateway that most people can never dream of having. Use it!

Haha thanks for that, I have now spent the last hour or two reading through your blog. You have some really inspiring (and funny) articles and it's great to see someone who's the same age as me achieving what I'd like to achieve.

I wouldn't mind spending time in Canada, I've heard it's like living here in Australia but even better and friendlier.

As long as you don't mind the cold winters we have here in Canada, it's a great place to live (and long rainy seasons for the west coast).

That blog must have been made by someone that think 3-5 grand per month is a lot of money . Get real the bast place to live is where you can work at 1000% (10X) capacity , those places are USA , Canada , UK , France , Germany , Italy and so on . Or even better the best place to work is in your own country , Internet marketing included .

Err, why does your location affect your ability to work at full capacity? I lived in Thailand for 8 months and made a lot more money than '3-5 grand'.

I think its all preference. There's always ways around paying high taxes... Doesn't matter where you live.... If your in the US, read Loopholes of the Rich by Diane Kennedy for starters.

Anyway, I found your list very interesting to read about each country. Thanks for sharing. For me I wouldn't mind living in a different country every month!

Quite simple , as a webmaster you'll need every edge over your competition . to get the best information and deals it is preferable to know your target face to face . You can spend a few months in a place far from your target client without loosing to much info but you'll need to keep in touch if you want the real deal .

That alone is a reason why corporate jets burn so much fuel .

My target clients are based in over ten different countries. The whole point of the Internet is that it makes business possible on a global scale. Why do I need to be in any of the countries you listed to work at full capacity?

In the realms of online marketing, there's literally no reason why you can't enjoy the same success from a towering London skyscraper as you can working in the back of a Cambodian hut.

There are bad places to live when working on the internet-those that are oppressive, and limit what you can say.

With that caveat in mind, the best place to live-is where you are. The internet, creativity, and the entrepreneurial spirit thrives everywhere.

Ah yes I forgot you're the author of the blog . Quite simple because the Internet offers a lot of global power but the truth is that all the webtraffic from India and China combined is worth less then the traffic from the UK alone . This is why you're gonna be payed to give out your opinion if you're and American and no one will care about you're opinion if you're an Indian .

I for one would donate all my traffic outside the US/EU/AUS/NZ/SK/JP just to get 1% more US traffic . I'm not that much into marketing but more into hosting and web development and I can't help but notice where the real money is coming from . If i don't know the latest dos and don'ts then I'm one step behind the competition and that alone can kill me in a volatile market like this one .

What does web traffic have to do with your personal location in the world?

I receive exactly the same traffic whether I'm living in England or anywhere else. The factors just have no relation at all. Just because I may be staying in China for a few months, doesn't mean that the traffic to my websites is going to turn Chinese. I don't understand what you're saying.

It definitely helps to have good Internet connections. Where I lived in Bangkok, the Internet was patchy - especially at the start of the monsoon season! I can imagine it's even worse in the smaller cities.

I was hoping to travel to South Korea during my time out there. I've heard some great things about Seoul.

@ Finch - Nice post on your blog.

      I'm from the USA, but I live by choice now in South Korea. Aside from all of the reasons why I live here when it comes to the topic of the OP I find that for me at least;

      - I live in one of the most internet connected county's on the planet, it is everywhere here and the quality is superb, 100mbps Up/Down is the norm.

      - I live almost in the same time zone as my outsource services in the Philippines, I find this very convenient for the ability to live chat at any time throughout the day.

Granted not the country of choice for most, but for me it is at the top of the list. Once I reach that age (50) where a retirement visa in Thailand is available to me, I may have a new top choice

I think the key is a good Internet connection and low cost of living. While Aruba has perfect weather I have had issues with a flakey/slow Internet connection making living their long term unrealistic for an Internet Marketer.
Family commitments has me stuck in an expensive part of the US - some day I intend to travel and work from the road :-)

I've been travelling (whilst working online) for the past few months now and Thailand is easily the best!

The only minor problem is the Internet - but I've finally conquered that with various back up plans (wifi access from 2 local businesses and 2 mobile internet dongles!).

Internet access is always the number 1 priority for me - I'd love to go and live back in India but the Internet access just wasn't good enough.

The 6 hour time difference here in Thailand is pretty cool as well - I'm answering all support queries before my UK customers have woken up - as long as I tell them I take 24 hours to respond they're all happily waking up with there support queries closed

If anyone is out here (I'm in Samui at the moment) send me a message and we'll go for a beer!

Inspiring blog post....I've always wanted to take my business to the road and have to a certain degree visiting friends in San Diego, Washington, etc....but overseas is next!

And you can still have personal relationships and be face to face via Skype, e-mail, GoToMeetings, etc...

OP have you ever read Farriss' 4 hour work week. He details how to go about living in other countries and getting the most out of it.

I am fortunate in that I have the means and the time for extended trips or to live elsewhere but I truly don't enjoy travel very much.

My poor wife REALLY likes to travel but me not too much as I am so happy just staying home.

I have indeed read 4HWW, and thought it was an inspiring book, if a little niche for most small business owners.

It definitely pushed me to look closer at outsourcing my business, and that's helped me a huge deal over the last couple of years - especially when it comes to traveling.
