Visualizing Morning & Evening, HOW??

Hi ALL

I know many many sources say to do your visualizing in the morning and in the evening both just upon waking and just as you sleep, do they mean literally in the bed? cos i have tried this and i fall back to sleep or am too tired to do it or to remember it, and the night time one is ok except some nights im not asleep for ages and so then feel ive missed that slumber time for reprogramming

Please can you help with some advice? thank you

Don't do it while you're in bed. It tends to make you fall asleep

I don't spend long time for visualization. 5 minutes is enough. Keep the positive attitude along the day is more important. The effort you do by doing hours of visualization will be useless if you cannot manage your feeling along the day.

    It's the feeling that matters

Thank you, so are you saying that upon waking up get out of bed, sit on a chair and then do it? When i get out of bed it doesnt take me that long to get awake again, and the idea is to get out of bed, not to go through a relaxation technique but to immediately start visualizing?

Better do that. Because when you fall asleep, you defeat the purpose of visualization

You're right, 5 minutes is more then enough time. I've heard people say that you should do it 3 times a day for 30 minutes but I think that's a little too much. Just sitting there trying to do something like that is a little strenuous since most people's minds tend to wander a lot. There are times where I do it for small amounts of time almost everywhere I go. I was once in a laundromat and I had to wait 15 minutes for my clothes to get done. I remember I just sat down and put my head down and started visualizing. Any amount of time you do it is ok as well as whatever time of day you do it is fine. As long as you do it is the important thing.

Thanks for reminding us about the power of visualizations.

I have begun to use visualizations, primarily from delving into NLP, popularized by Tony Robbins.

The positions below are from other disciplines.

    * yoga lotus position with legs crossed & fingers in traditional yoga form on top of the knees. This will help you from falling asleep since your body is in active posture, as the 2 other positions below.
    * lying face down, head resting on the two flat plams, the two palms resting on top of the other palm (left palm on top of the right palm, or vice-versa).
    * standing position, left palm placed on navel, right palm on top of left palm (or vice-versa), feel the expansion & contraction of the diaphragm at inhalations and exhalations of air into the body (i.e., the diaphragm.)

    Hope these positions help.

        Thanks for asking.

Visualizations are more effective, I think, if you involved all 3 modalities (visual, auditory and kinesthetic.)

While I'm primarily visual, my visualization of a supernova explosion in my navel that engulfs my whole body also has auditory elements (the blast sound from the supernova explosion akin to a nuclear blast) and the kinsethetic feeling associated to such a massive explosion (your whole body shaking and convulsing).

Consider this: a supernova explosion is equivalent to a thousand hydrogen bombs, which lights up an entire galaxy.

Because of another thread about Rocky here (Sly Stallpone as Rocky), I am thinking of doing a visualization with me running up the Philadelphia museum like Rocky, with the Rocky theme being played simultaneoulsy in my PC. Looks like a powerful visualization with both auditory elements (the Rocky theme from youtube and the kinesthetic feelings from reaching the top of the stairs).

Also remember to yell your affirmations during or after you do your visualizations so there's more of a physiological aspect to it.

      Great idea.

      Thanks for reminding us.

      Your opinions, please:

Q: Has anybody taped their affirmations? Are taped affirmations (in your own voice) more effective compared to affirmations taped in other voices (your friend's voice or the voice from a commercial affirmation tape you buy)?

Q: Are taped affirmations in your voice better than you reading your own list of self-affirmations?

I have once tried reading a list that I made up and took everywhere I went.

Pros: I don't miss any affirmation.

Cons: The list got longer & longer; I eventually lost the list.

That was before the advent of smartphones. I guess, the solution is writing the affirmations as an archived text message (in appropriate length) to yourself.

thank you for this question its a great one, because for my goal i also wrote out many affirmations then recorded the affirmations but the thing im confused with is that when should i listen to them...i mean should i sit and focus and listen, because in that time i rather do a session of visualising or is it to be passive listen such as not with focus, when im chopping food up or driving?

its very weird though to listen to your own voice im finding

The reason taped affirmations in your own voice are considered more effective than in someone else's voice because you believe/trust your voice more than anyone else's in the world.
So, when you keep hearing yourself say something over and over again, you're more likely to start believing it more quickly than if it was someone else.

And audio tapes of yourself are better than just reading because of the same principle, you hear yourself more clearly and the clearer it is, the better and faster the result(s) will come.

All the best with your affirmations

At whatever time of the day u do it...mix it with feelings and emotions...u must feel the awe within as if its really happening ..

u shud get goosebumps so to say.....

such visualizations are very effective...will get firmly embedded in ur subconscious mind....

"Thought become Things"....everything which is not water or green was once a thought...every thing is created twice ....first in mind then in reality...any one can create his own reality....

maybe everyone here already knows about this...just wanted to share....

thank you aniket, terrific. Ive read though that getting relaxed is the best way to access the subconscious but your saying do this anytime relaxed or not as long as you have emotions correct?

and after you have visualised what do you do for the rest of the day, in between your visualising?

And if I'm honest, I still do.

Six months ago, took a notepad and wrote down the morning routine I wanted to commit to for at least 3 weeks.

It DIDNT work for me. LAZY? Middle name ;-)

I'll tell you what is working for me though. Instead of visualizing at a set time, place and the whole eyes closed thing, I just "freestyle" it.

When walking up to talk to someone new, I rehearse my opening line and their positive reaction (I see them smiling in my mind) as I step towards them.

And this wouldn't be cool without the cheese: When showering, I imagine being in a huge wet room with multiple shower jets and a jacuzzi.

And 6 months later, I've moved out and living in a part of England that I have dreamed of living in for years and renting a place with a huge wet room! Minus the jets, jacuzzi and playboy models (forgot to tell you about that).

My outlook is much more positive, and accomplishing so much more.
It's a journey for me, step by step. I'd definitely like to try deep visualization because of the benefits I read about all the time here. I'm just saying that quick mental visuals as you go about your daily life can be sweet too - in fact, I'll go ahead and do it right now after I hit submit
well written naren im from uk too and amazing about your wet room its inspiring thank you

They say its better at night and in the morning... but you need to do it when it works best for you... if you are too tired in the morning than get up, move around, have breakfast first and then spend a few minutes visualizing...

i like visualize before i go to bed and also when I go for my jog... thats jsut when it works best for me...

don't worry about when it works best for other people... just figure out when it works for you.. visualization is a tool... it helps you stay focused on the things you want.. it keeps you motivated and inspires you...

just like you wouldn't use a chain saw when you are half asleep.... dont try visualization if it makes you fall asleep.

In the evening, just before you fall asleep, your brain is much more suggestible and open to receiving your visualization and affirmations.

Every night before you go to bed, have it in your mind to say your affirmations just when you feel that "tired" feeling wash over you.

You will have several minutes before you fall asleep, this is the BEST time to repeat an affirmation to yourself over and over again, or visualize whatever it is that you are trying to achieve!

The real trick is to do the visualizations and affirmations when your mind is suggestible, the only known natural time for this to happen is during that "twilight" time when you are drifting off to sleep......
..... However if you cant do it then for whatever reason, then the best thing to do is do a meditation during the day, and say your affirmations and see your visualizations then.

brilliant, thank you very much josh ill give it a try. What do we do during the day, i mean we affirm morning or evening or whenever we can do the meditation as such, however during the day do we need to consciously reply the mental movies in our minds or repeat affirmations again?

during the day you try to take action, knowing that every step you take is getting you closer to your goals.

If you find yourself distracted or wasting time, then try to focus on your positive images and affirmation to get yourself on track.

Not exactly, you can visualize everyday, but not necesary flash the images in your mind.

Visualitations = Paying attention, focus imagining something.

The purpose of visualizations practice its to feel that what you are visualizing have alredy come true inside you.

            Hope this help you.

How excited are you about the thought of achieving the goals you're visualizing about? Find out what you really want, what really excites you and falling asleep, no matter how comfortable you are when visualizing, will become virtually impossible.

not sometime, tonight... try it, you wont be sorry.

Think of any area in your life that you want to improve, and say the affirmations tonight before you sleep over and over and over again..

Firstly it will help you fall asleep, by taking your mind off of everything else,

but on a deeper subconscious level you are wiring your brain in a way to reach your goals faster and easier.

but on a deeper subconscious level you are wiring your brain in a way to reach your goals faster and easier.
