Visualization and Affirmations

Hi All

I have read that we should visualise our end goal, and that with this we should also have some affirmations that we say audibly as we visualise in the relaxed state

My question is, how many affirmations do you have and how many times do you say them after you have envisioned your end result but prior to waking up from the relaxed state?

thank you

The thing here is no how much you have to say your affirmations daily, but how intense must be the affirmation.

When you repeat something to yourself you must feel it like true, this will root in your subconscious more fast and effectively. You should say your affirmations 3 or even 5 times a day, but the key its to feel them like true.

Kaysa is right. Whatever method you use, whether it's visualization or affirmation, the feeling behind it is most important.

Chanting affirmation without involving emotion or feeling is like saying empty word.

Visualize without emotion is no different than watching movie.

Make sure you use the feeling to enhance it

Thank you so much, i have to remember the feeling element now.

I was once told by a life coach to repeat affirmations all day long in my mind continuously because she said we have over 60,000 thoughts and so we have to repeat them 1000times and it has worked for her. I had from 5-10 to repeat in this manner all day long, and well i did it religiously for around 60days before giving up. Even when saying them i was filled with either anxiety or doubt at achieving my goal or even that this would work as it seemed too much.

Oh i see so i can simply choose 1 affirmation instead of having 20 and saying that with feeling until i feel it is true?

I ask this because I actually wrote down around 20 affirmations for my goal, its a simple goal as im new to all this but i guess i was trying to make sure i hit it from all angles, but to repeat them all with feeling feels draining and tiring so 1 concrete affirmation which is the goal itself is ok?

      thank you

This is right James, 1 affirmation will work just fine. But where I would caution you is the part about "until I feel it is true".
You want to start off with the belief that it is already true, and approach it with that set of feelings.
It takes practice, but that's the most effective way.

jack thank you, so start with 1 affirmation and when saying it believe it to be true and feel it is true for me now as i say it correct? and ideally in the relaxed state?

I know or read that we think im images and that visualizing is the way to create beliefs etc so how do affirmations work cos these are words?

yeah very much so and all i was doing was repeating the affirmations in my mind constantly and continuously unless i was talking or reading. I now understand that is pointless for without feelings affirmations arent useful at all are they?

You can pair your affirmations and visualizations, and have them take place simultaneously.

In your visualizations, you could have all 3 modalities: visual, auditoty and kinesthetic.

ah so whilst your visualising then you say the affirmations in your mind too?

i know were to visualise when relaxed, or as some would say in a drowsy state but it feels more tricky to do it then as your well drowsy do you find that?

and what do you during the day inbetween every visualisation session?

So true Rohm, you hit the nail on the head. And when you sync your affirmations and visualizations with specific goals and action you get even more powerful results.

I tend to use a lot of subliminals and self-hypnosis as I feel that my conscious mind often sabotages my affirmations. Another point. Apart from just feeling stuff, you have to KNOW that they are happening.

The secret of affirmation is to believe in your capabilities. Have faith in your abilities and you can achieve almost anything in life.

Wont the affirmations create that belief? I mean from what i have read and understood you should say your affirmations with feelings during the meditative or relaxation stages and this is where it makes the most impact, and will help reinforce belief etc

Affirmations help to create belief, but they are just a tool - you have to already believe even if you do not see it yet.

Learning to be 'friends' with my conscious mind has been the most challenging. My mind always seems to wander with the 'brain chatter' during meditation and found myself constantly battling with it. Now I'm working on being more loving and understanding with myself when I start having random thoughts, and it seems to be helping. I would like the progress to go faster, but some progress is better than none.

I am going to look into subliminal stuff I just read about on here. Thanks!

Indeed, some progress is better than none, and you do have to be gentle and patient with yourself. The real key is consistency; even when sometimes it seems like you were doing real well last week (for example), keep practicing on a consistent basis.

may i just ask with the consistency mentioned here, i have read thats the key with visualization as well so would u say its cos there will be times when we dont want to and thats when to start?

What im finding really hard is seriously getting time to sit on my own and start all this relazxing visualizing etc, its as if i want to yet im not doing it make sense?

    Great questions James -
How many affirmations, when to say them, how often, etc. ; it's different for every person. If you go to my website you can get a free copy of my book; "Affirmative Power - The Science of Affirmations" it will answer all of your questions.
