Being gentle with yourself...
It takes time to realize what is going on in your head and by the time you realize this, you are caught in a downward spiral. Do you feel as if you are in a tennis match, always trying to resist negative thoughts?
Have you asked yourself: How can I change this negative cycle? How can I begin to see the potential in situations/events rather than the threats?
Most people are facing the exact same thing with their negative thinking.
Realize that your mind has been programmed to think like that and it will take some time
to "Unlearn" what you have learned. To begin with stop beating yourself up about your negative thinking because whatever you resist WILL persist! Here are 3 simple steps that you can do:
1. Be aware of what you are thinking
2. Don't make yourself wrong for thinking negatively (be gentle with yourself)
3. Replace the dominant negative thinking with more empowering thoughts.
Remember, AWARENESS IS THE FIRST STEP! The fact that you are aware of it will allow for the change you are looking for. You cannot change what you don't acknowledge.
I'm curious how others do it???
