Mindfulness or Conscious living changed my Life

This is my method for staying positive, staying energetic, and has literally changed my life. The book written by Eckhart Tolle " The Power of NOW " has opened up a whole new world for me.

It certainly isn't easy and isn't widely practiced in most English speaking societies. The method is relatively easy. It's basically learning to recognize our automatic thoughts, that unconsciously bring so many negative thoughts and emotions into our lives.

It involves recognizing our thoughts as they come into our minds, then consciously choosing what thoughts are important NOW, this moment in time.

Simply put. I won't fear starting a new project because one failed in the past. I was a different person back then. I'll learn from it.

I won't postpone something I can easily do NOW, because my automatic thoughts are putting unfounded "what if's" in my mind.

I won't worry about what MIGHT happen tomorrow when there is absolutely nothing I can do about it NOW. Tomorrow will be here eventually.

It isn't easy to recognize the automatic thoughts that control most people, but is readily easy to see in others if you look. We all know people that are continually pre-occupied, anxious, nervous, fearful, and stressed. Right now, in this moment, is there any real reason to feel any of these?

I have to admit, at times it can be hard not to pay attention to a thought that has a strong emotion attached to it. The only effective way I have found to stray away from negative thoughts is to distract myself.

Wow...it's such an easy concept but reading this really stirred something in me...I'll be repeating "NOW" and reminding myself from now on...I have his 'A New Earth' but I wasn't too stirred. I might just have to get it...Thank you for posting this

I have many of those type of thoughts that hold me back. Especially when it comes to procrastination. I have used this technique with success and this was a good reminder. It's easy to forget to be mindful of your thoughts but the more you do it the easier it gets I imagine.
