What's the best way to make full-time income online?

ok... everyone has techniques and strategies to make money online. Some do affiliate marketing with Amazon and Clickbank. Some venture into MLM. Some do Ebay. Some do just Adwords, Some do Article Marketing, some do Blogging and I'm sure there are many other ways.

If a college student came up to you today and said: "hey, I don't have very much money, but if I were to look at making some money online, perhaps a full-time income... what would you recommend I do?"

Look forward to your thoughts and BTW... I do have a daughter in college that asked me this question. I do have some ideas, but I'd like to see what others think on this as well. Thanks

Making money online is a simple process, but its not easy. A successful online career comes down to 2 things. Generating leads, and then converting those leads into sales..just like any other business. Now, successfully doing those thing can be quite complicated for some, especially if they don't know where to start and don't have any $$ to get started.

    Hey Scott,

Okay so this is the question I would ask any college student that wanted to start an online business and wanted to create an income for themselves. First how much time are they willing to invest in their personal training. There is a difference between a college education and a marketing education of how to run and work a business online.

I would recommend that they get the books Think and Grow Rich, Rich Dad Poor Dad, and How to Win Friend and Influence People. Once they had done all of that and had shown that they were interested and willing on working their personal development then I would find out about the the things that interest them. Is there something that they know how to do that is a solution to a problem in one of the areas that interest them? If so I would suggest that they start blogging, writing articles, making youtube videos about that subject. It really depends on the thing they are good at writing, audio, or video. There are ways to use any of these as your first time on line.

Then I would look for a product that fits in with the solutions that they are offering to their audience. It can be an MLM, network, direct marketing product or an affiliate product it makes no difference. Then I would tell them to learn how to use one form of social media really well and start to put up links to their content. Presto the early beginnings of a business built to add value and service to it's market. A young person that has learned to build great relationships with their customers and clients, because they want to add value and knowledge to their clients.

This may take longer than a couple of weeks or even months for them to build but it would definitely expand their horizons especially if they did not expect instant results, but were looking at it as a way to build skills and knowledge in the field of working for themselves. Truly only the ones that are dedicated will succeed, because they will be the ones to learn new skills and keep growing and serving others.

I hope this helped. This is just what I would do. And just so you know, that I practice what I preach I make my kids (8,8, and 1) watch mindset videos and the like to let them know there is nothing they cannot do if they are willing to learn the skills to do it. =D

Well my experience (over the 4 years it took me to dump my offline businesses and 'retire' to work from home) indicates that success requires:

    1) An emotional goal.

    2) A long term view.

    3) Reasonable expectations of what's possible.

    4) A willingness to learn.

    5) Consistent action to meet achievable goals.

    6) A mentor.

Why should success in internet marketing be easier than becoming successful in any other profession? It isn't. But, I can tell you IMO, the rewards are much better.

Scott that's a fair question. One of the reasons that this is not simple to answer is that someones personality has a huge influence on what, and how they do.

I hate, no HATE article writing but that does not mean that you can't make good money writing on the 'net.

That being said, one of the quicker ways to make some fairly good money is to build websites for offline businesses. The whole business can be ran via the 'net.

If you are interested in more input, just ask.

I know some people who now make 7 figure income online who had no money to start with. There are too many free tools online available to anyone to start an online business, only thing required is good old fashion work, as long as someone's not looking for a "get rich quick" answer. It takes 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration to succeed in anything, even talent alone isn't enough. So..to start an online business is very very low cost if not free for anyone who can get by a little with computers.

I think the starting point would be to pick on something they had an interest in and they have some knowledge about and then learn the principals on how to market on the internet. They need to spend some some researching their area of interest looking for opening to exploit and earn money.

Find out what people are looking in this area of interest, research on popular keyword phrases. I would then suggest buying a domain with their name and set up a blog perhaps on a subdomain to start writing posts. It would help if they could get some personal mentoring.

Overall a budget of less than $100 per month would enable them to achieve success within three years.

    What a Great Question Scott!

I like what Genhorrall said overall, but I think I'd also add a bit about their reason why, how much income they want, give them as many stats as I could and and get them to work out their exit strategy, based upon all that data.

That sorts them out real quick!

As Bill Gates says about the 10,000 hours it requires to gain the needed skills to excel in any field, online or offline, he added...

"They must possess an almost fanatical attitude" towards their goal with a work ethic to suit, in order to succeed as an expert in their field!

I guess it depends upon what a full time income means to the individual too.

But if it meant $5,000 a month, most people would be happy to settle somewhere between Skill Sectors 3-4 and stay there!

    Hi Scott,

Everyone is good at something it's just a case of finding out what it is, then create your own digital information product.

Once created I created another and another, granted it takes time, but only about 4 weeks from start to finish for my first product, which I then setup a separate website dedicated to the product.

Once I had made a number of sales I then made it available for affiliates via clickbank, and then started the process over again with my second product and so on.

When sales began to plateau I then listed them on eBay which was slow to start but once your listings are created correctly off you go.

Although I do have a large number of other sites using OneLung and MP Mage systems, not forgetting a few Googlesniper sites. But strangely I get a large amount of enjoyment and satisfaction from creating my own digital information products and in some cases if I need to use my time in other areas I will have someone else write it for me.

    Best Regards
    Jack

I would always recommend e-bay as the place to get your feet wet when it comes to selling online , its how I first started selling things on-line and it helped me to build up my confidence to sell other things.

Although I no longer use e-bay as an income source it can be the best way for anyone to get started.

Wow... I take a day off and came back to some great imput! I hope this info can help others looking to supplement their income online from home. There is nothing more satisfying than walking down the hall to go to work.

I think I read where somebody wrote... pick one thing and stick with it until it works. I can't agree more. Too many people online quit too soon. The mentality off trying something for a few months and quitting or cutting your losses before it gets any worse is bad.

I know when I opened a flooring store back in the early 1980's... there were days sometimes when nobody walked in the door. After 6 months, I was ready to quit and find a job. The income I was making was pathetic. But I stuck with it anyway cause I really wanted it to work and I saw huge visions for the future. By the early 1990's... our annual sales climbed into the millions, we build a new 10,000 sq ft showroom, we had a fleet of truck and many employees. We were well known and people came from all over to buy flooring from us.

Just Imagine if I would have quit in that first year.

Don't Quit... If you love what you do and you have a vision... you will make it work and nothing will stop you!

Scott that advice is great and once you get it working you can think about adding other income streams and repeating the process again and again until you are happy with the income. I will generally work a new business for a minimum of six months and provided I am making sales will continue until it is profitable, I think over the time I have been working online I have only had one business which failed to produce a $.

I do not know what I was doing wrong it just did not work for me, in fact I spoke to my up-line and they were puzzled as well, so I guess one cant win all the time.

When you are working you must treat a business as a business not a hobby, set hours of work, be organised and develop a daily routine for marketing, answering queries following up leads etc.

Right on David... if you or anyone here watches Dr. Phil at all... he has a line he says all the time. It fits in just about everything we do in Life whether you're working on a marriage, trying to quit an addiction, teaching your kids right from wrong or even starting a home business and making money online.

When people ask Dr. Phil: "how long should I do this?" His answer is always: "you do it until. It could be a month, it could be 6 months, it could be a couple years, but if you want this to work... you do it until". Every situation is different and there is no set time how long it takes.

Scott, I have never heard of Dr Phil, guess he must have an American talk show but its great answer

There is nothing easy on the internet, yes some people have certain gifts, but a lot of it comes down to attitude, if you cannot make money in the real world, the internet is not the golden Goose. Conversely some one who is successful offline may struggle working online until they find the key. You need to be adaptable and learn new skills.

One contributor here mentioned starting in SEO, now for a novice that is not good advice, you need to study SEO if that is an interest area and it will take years of study just like it takes in the real world to earn a college degree, before you can be successful in putting it into action and garnering the rewards you seek.

                You are quite correct David...
It does take at least 5,000 hours of concentrated study to become proficient at a skill in order to have someone pay you enough to replace an average income.
It also takes 10,000 hours of similar effort to create a 6 or 7 figure annual income!
How on earth can anyone continue to fool people into believing that with no previous skills they can make thousands of dollars overnight?

Excellent point Scott: never quit. Quitting is so common, highlighted by the fact that some people quit even before they start. I've heard marketers speak of the numbers of people who sign up for a training, buy an online tool or begin with a network marketing company and then simply do no more. It seems that some people who want to change their lives get enough courage to buy something they think will do the trick-for $25 or even $2500-and then do nothing more. It's as if spending money gave them a quick feeling that they are doing something positive and then they go back to whatever they were. That's sad, but even sadder is the person who puts in the work for awhile and then walks away before they break through.

I would have to agree... if I were to start all over again from scratch, that would probably be where I would start. Of course it's a little more involved than just selling other peoples products... you have to know how to find the people that will be buying those products too and that my friends is what we call marketing.

I would have to agree with Scott...

How many of us when we first began our intrepid online journeys had the vaguest idea we would have to become a marketing major to succeed online?

I think if anyone would have said we would need to become great at marketing, most of us would have fainted dead away with disbelief!

Wasn't it that all you had to do was to put up a site and sit under a palm tree on a deserted island somewhere and Paypal would make sure your account overflowed that night?

Every level of learning has its own skill sectors which open up for you and on and on it goes...

    Hi Scott...
Pro Blogger has many guest Bloggers and I'm sure heaps of other Blogs do too.
It builds each others followings and is sort of like sending info to each others lists, the proper way.
I have recently been asked to guest Blog for a lady with a very successful Blog...forgot about it actually, until then.
(Moving house and all that gets in the way!)

Anyways, go to ProBlogger and check them out. You'll find all you need to know there.
It's a great Blog too by the way.
    Kindest...

    Hi Great Question
i would recommend if they say they truly want to make money and are willing to do whatever it takes that first of they should save some money and invest it to learn a marketing skill such as affiliate marketing, article marketing, social media, or ppc (pay per click) or google adwords. But you should find a reliable mentor and learn as much as possible my biggest advice would be never give up.

For me, the best way to make full-time income online is through SEO Reselling?

SEO Reselling is a system where I can work from home, I can have some fun with my family, cash is pouring to my back account, and spend hours on the net looking for next vacation destination. A work that will only spend me 2-4 hours a day.

I've seen a lot of cases wherein people are starting to tell their stories of success after few months of working with us. Sounds promising? Yeah, I'm talking about SEO reselling... We are providing SEO Service to SEO companies, Gurus, and Individuals who wants financial freedom.

Being an SEO reseller will give you the life you always wanted:

    no boss
    no employees
    no space
    no huge electric bills
    no rent
    no inventory
    no filing of insurance
    no liabilities

It does not require 10 years in college, MBA, proper education, and you don't need to be an SEO expert to be able to do this.

I would make an information product or range of info products and sell them.

They're quick, easy and cheap to make. All you need is expertise, and a camera or microphone.

Once you have something recorded, you have something of value.

I guess there is no specific strategy on how to make money online, based on experienced and observation for you to earn online you have to be dynamic and good enough to go with the trend online. but to make this thing productive this should be done along with expertise and good skills.

Great Advice. Just furstrating that there are no clear paths. Everything leads in circles or mostly to benefit the owner of website or product...but only pennies to the end user.

I believe if you have a strong idea or a strong product then you can earn strong income. I would suggest to all newbie to just focus on the Affiliate Marketing rather then focusing on the other tactics, such as internet marketing services, Blogging, classified etc. I believe and make them believe that only Affiliate Marketing has potential, and it will grow you in the future. So for Affiliate all you need is a perfect product which should be:

    1. In Trend.
    2. According to the income category of target customers.
    3. Value added features.

This is all what you need

    Hi Scott,

I’ve asked myself the same question while I was planning to do internet marketing.

There are really a lot of ways to earn income online but I think there’s no BEST way. There are a lot of internet success stories even on this forum that was possible through email marketing, adsense, ebay etc.

I think the best way to approach the question is by asking another question.

    “What do you love?”

And follow it up by asking: “What are you good at?”

Each one of us has our own passion and a unique set of skills. Some people don’t like blogging or managing a site, so they go for ebay to buy and sell different stuff. Some people love building communities and getting social so they go for MLM.

What I mean to say is, let’s help those people who are confused with choosing the right way of starting an internet marketing business by helping identify what they love and what they’re good at. I believe that success is not that far away if you love what you’re doing.

    Always here to help,

    Nick

I think the best thing should be to open an online shop like ebay or amazon. Yes, as you know that many people sell stuff online because of various reasons, one of the reasons is that it won't take you much time and easy to opera even you just have yourself. And your daughter is a colleague student right now, she still needs to take part in some classes, online shop will be her best choice. But choose the right products in website should be twice think. Good luck for you.

First, define full time income. It doesn't make sense to me. Second, if what you meant is an income that never stops, there are so many affiliate programs out there that promises that. But I haven't seen any deliver.

If you ask the pros, writing a book is the best way to have residual income online.
