Need advice

I am new to the forum, but not new to the internet.
I have a website has been having some viral traffic in one of my forums. I think there are lots of robots programs keep posting on my forums with some nonsense or ads. Very few are real stuff.
The problem is that they were indexed in the search engine and the site sometimes gets unexpected traffic. For example, one day I got about 100 hits from Amazon within a half hour period. They convert too.
I don't know it's good or bad. But I have to shut down the forum due to publishers don't like what they posted. Some contains adult language.
My question 1 is how to stop this massive posting which is kind of killing the bandwidth. What are the options I have here? I tried ban the IPs but these IPs constantly change.
Any technical help would be much appreciated.
I use post-nuke phpbb by the way. (it's at classmatedirect.com/fdfz)
