How to keep myself from getting distracted?

Hello warriorforum,

I have a problem that is keeping me from doing anything productive apart from the absolute necessary. I keep getting distracted all the time. Games, films and browsing the web are the biggest time-wasters but if those options aren't available I'll find something else.

The problem does not only stall the growth of my internet business, it keeps me from studying Chinese, and doing my homework as well.

Any help is much appreciated,
Baort

P.S For what it's worth, I'm 17 years old, it might be a common problem at my age?

You definitely need to change your environment. If you can go somewhere where you have just you homework ETC to do, not your usual room. Try a friends room, a mall or anywhere else. You might notice a small change

I had the same problem, when I was 17, I spent all free time on playing computer games, and my parents help me and buy me gym membership card. I started going to gym, and had only a few time for everyrhing else, this time I used for doing homework. So you should find your hobby, and hope everything will be okay.

I like this -- going to the gym has helped me out in a huge way...

After having a long stressful day, I usually go to the gym and burn off all of that stress. I am then able to get work done at home and be more productive.

      Hope this helps...

When you are doing what you want to do say working on your internet business, remove all other distractions and only have the websites open that are relevant to your business.

Also, make lists of what you need to do and set a time limit for doing them.

Break the tasks down to their smaller parts so that you don't get overwhelmed stop and start to do something else.

Make sure you are well fed and rested before starting and have something like water to drink so that being hungry or thirsty won't distract you also.

Then use the power of your will to actually make yourself do it. The more you do this, the easier it will become until you will be in the habit of being an effective worker without distractions. :-)

You're probably not motivated enough by whatever business you're doing at the time and are trying to reach out for something "more fun".

I like TopKatt22 post, that's how to solve your problem. I had a very similar problem. I believe at one time or the other, we will get distracted. How long we stay there, and how we deal with this is what makes the difference between the successful people who use time wisely and the rest of us. I will not open facebook or any other social online site that will distract me when I'm doing the important task in hand. Read inspirational books too, and check out what warriors do right here!

You also must have the mood to work, I for one can't do anything if I do not have the spirit to do this.

Hi, if it is websites that are distracting you there are services like LeechBlock. It is a simple productivity tool designed to block those time-wasting sites that can suck the life out of your working day. All you need to do is specify which sites to block and when to block them.
You can specify up to six sets of sites to block, with different times and days for each set. You can block sites within fixed time periods (e.g., between 9am and 5pm), after a time limit (e.g., 10 minutes in every hour), or with a combination of time periods and time limit (e.g., 10 minutes in every hour between 9am and 5pm).

It's because you don't have a strong enough NEED.

Your young and probably live at home.

Wait until you are 30 and have gotten your girl friend pregnant and you 6 months before your house gets taken off you.

You will be surprised when you suddenly find your motivation.
Slightly said in fun but it's true.
