Being a millionaire is a longshot?

I don't think it's really a longshot, I think people just need to set goals and achieve them, and stop listening to the "gurus" that charge $500 for a product or $3000 a month for training. Save your money, be realistic, and don't let the money get to your head.

There was a story on MSNBC recently where they did a study and found out that most Americans believe their "net work" won't reach 1 million dollars in the next 10 years.

Most believe it's very unlikely, extremely unlikely, or very difficult to become a millionaire in the United States "today".

That's bullhockey. I mean come on, there is so much room in this world for people to become millionairs, it's ridiculous. You just have to see it.

And if you don't become a millionaire, who cares? (maybe you do, but you shouldn't)

Just the fact that you believe in yourself is all that truly matters.

For example, doing a wheelie for the first time on a motorcycle was "very difficult" for me at first, but once I got the hang of it, it was easy. I can do a wheelie on any type of bike now.

Making my first $0.23 online was very unlikely to me in the beginning, but it happened. It just takes effort.

If I had never lost my job at that trucking company in January, 2010, I would not be able to say that I had a $3,000 day a few weeks ago my niche websites. But I did.

So, seeing as a large majority of people thing it's unrealistic, stop whining. Wake up, smell the coffee, get out of bed, stop daydreaming, and focus.

Here's the original article on MSNBC: Bottom Line - Being a millionaire a longshot, most Americans believe

Also here's a story on Yahoo News about 5 "secrets" to becoming a millionaire. Let's just say.. they aren't secrets, they are just common sense: http://shine.yahoo.com/event/financi...naires-1370279

Get out there and show me, your friends, your family, and most importantly, yourself, that you have what it takes!

    obviously its possible
    - i think its definitely more likely online with teh wf esp - but remember its how you spend it and how you spend your time -

its relative to your quality of life i know people who make 60 - 70 k a year thas 120 - 140 k in dollars and they still have to ask me for money for stuff - I sh**t you not
    - cos they spend so much on irrelevant things - its good to have the drive though but being realistic is also good - if your not happy with 100k a year , why would a million make you happy -
I know i'd be happy if I had a car again - v happy cycling is dangerous - above a certain amount you have to start looking at whats actually gonna help - i e a satisfying job - mates - wife - a cat or dog - sunshine freedom - i know the only reason im interested in money is for teh freedom

    - once im free to get in a car and spend a week in wales in a forest whenever I like ill be very happy - as it is im in an overcrowded city - and have only a few choices -

a good question to ask is how much is enough - for me £90 k a year always sounded very good - with that I can do what i like - get a pilots license a house - decent car - look after my family etc

seems your doing for respect from your social circle - which is good but is it an ultimate reason

    hope this helps

That's why it's not a good idea to give in. You'll realize that there are a lot of people out there that don't have the opportunity to make it and you were given that opportunity, probably many times over. It's only right to give back if you can. It's better than sitting around saying "i'm fine with 100k/yr, now I can sit back and do nothing"

        That's just my $0.02
I agree - I appreciate we are all privileged in the west 90% of people suffering around the world as we speak - thats why i appreciate progress - and I do want to help others starting with my family - thats all I meant - try zen it can teach you alot

That's where I want to be... at a point where I am able to help others... BEYOND what I can do now, that is.

But, many of us do have more than we think... I know I am very very blessed where I am at right now, and too many people take what they have for granted.. until they see how worse off others are (at least that is the hope).

That doesn't mean, however, that I won't continue to work towards something even bigger. It has nothing to do with not being happy with where I am currently at... it has everything to do with the desire to better myself and the many lives around me.

Thanks a lot for the answers

I do believe that people have much more than they think.

I personally started out with nothing, I didn't grow up living in a nice house, we lived paycheck to paycheck, and I wore the same shoes for years at a time. I was definitely lucky to have any of that as there are some out there that don't have anything close to my lifestyle, but looking at where I came from, I can tell you that everyone has an opportunity in this world to make a difference.

In no way do I think that being a millionaire is the only way to make a difference, but I can say people have much more than they think.

If people would just push themselves a bit further or take chances, they may just come out on top. Some of course will not, but those that constantly push for their dreams will reach them as long as they don't give up.

The only opportunity I had was access to the internet and a tiny bit of money in the beginning (less than $150), other than that I had no huge advantage, I did my research, learned the tricks, and VOILA. Now I have had days where I have made more money in a single week than an entire year of working. To me that's pretty huge.

I just feel, if I can do it, so can anyone else.

Keep up the great work everyone and never give up on your dreams

Its completely possible, its a matter of focusing on an idea and expanding on it. If you know a method that makes you $1,000.00 multiply your efforts by focusing on outsourcing your work. You can only do so much in a day as one person but if you have a method that you created that works then why not hire others to do the work.

I like that way of thinking.

Also there are statistics (maybe not proven, but they sound right) where people only actually work about 20% of the time that they are "working".

So if someone is working for 10 hours straight, they are probably only putting in about 2 hours of real effort.

If people could grasp that and push themselves further we'd see more success stories.

Imagine if instead of watching youtube/chatting with a friend/just thinking about nonsense, I actually put forth the effort and built 15 sites today. That's very possible because I know that I can build a niche website in less than 30 minutes and have it ranking in a matter of hours/days.

If I were to put more effort into my niche business, it's very likely I would be much further than I already am.

Now I'll be honest, I'm comfortable. I don't really have much to worry about at the moment and I'm okay living like that, but I do see myself hitting that $1,000,000 net worth in the next few years. I don't see it as a longshot and I don't think it's that difficult.

It all depends on how much you push yourself to actually do something. Or.. if you win the lottery.

Anybody in this industry has the ability to become a millionaire. All it takes is a plan, persistence, and time. It's also about diversifying and investing money into real asset classes such as bonds, stocks, mutual funds and ETF's etc.

Here's an interesting post on a personal finance blog, that gives you a very simple blueprint for anybody who makes $100K a year to become a millionaire in 10 years while still maintaining a comfortable standard of living.

    http://frugaldad.com/2008/08/19/how-...e-in-10-years/

You've really got to ask yourself why you want to become a millionaire though, is it to generate income? I mean a $1m portfolio has the ability to generate 5% a year in dividends. Which would equal an amount to $50,000 for just 'managing' money.

I mean for an internet marketer who does $1k a day who really wants to stash away the cash say $265,000 could become worth around $10 million in 20 years, on a portfolio that yields just 5% a year compounded, (that excludes the value of the assets themselves).

Which would still leave a very nice $100K to live on, which by anyone's means isn't struggling.

That'd make for a nice retirement on a $500,000 portfolio income. That's how you create 'real' wealth, and how the 'old money' works.

    Having money, makes more money.

And then there is the concept that having a beautiful lifestyle filled with anything your heart truly desires and wonderful people, and cash wise you are doing great it doesn't matter the amounts, as long as you feel safe, secure and your life is beautiful in every way.

    Hey!

Your words are wonderful. It is such a waste to buy book and have training for millionaire.

I some times want to what the hell this millionaire thing is. Will it make me happy for my life. We want lot of things in our life. We cant get it free like in the past. So, we want have it all ours. So you need somthing to suck every thing. Finally you suck yourself.

I think those who become millionaire is not the happiest man. I think those who are after the millionaire dream only is also giving up their happiness.

One Chinese saying: you can truly have things by only letting it go...

Most people don't realize that they will likely earn over a million dollars in their working lifetime. Even at an average of only $30,000 a year, in a 40 year working life, is $1,200,000!

While there are many ways to think different or do different if there was some training to just save and invest 10% or maybe %15 of earnings it would certainly remove the paycheck to paycheck syndrome. Also once a person begins to think of investing it changes the way they think about money. There is plenty of very excellent information available online about investing. Most of us think it's just for the people with money or I don't know anything about investing.

Kiyosaki started like this: 10% for tithing or given for charity, 10% to cash savings and %10 invested. As his wealth grew he increased the numbers but you can see it certainly has worked for him.

I've read and seen some of the ideas about a millionaire mindset and I don't doubt they are true. What I do know for certain is that once you begin investing (buy a silver dollar and you become an investor) it changes the way you look at money, and that changes your mindset from what can we buy to what can we invest in that will give us the best return on our money.

I really think some people have a fear of having money. They get stuck in a routine and don't like change.

Want this new cell phone? No, that's ok, I like my old one.

Want to work at home? No, that's ok, I like my job and it pays our bills.

There's really only a small percentage of people who are willing to take the risk and do what it takes to become successful and it's mostly a mindset thing... Not really if you build it, they will come, but if you want it, you will get it attitude.

It's not a long shot but it's hard for people to actually see it taking place without seeing how it starts.

But when you start making your FIRST money online it's easier to replicate what you've done and make more sites, get more traffic and more money.
