How do you keep a positive mindset?

At times when the U.S. and other major economies are showing signs of wear and tear... it's clear that your mentality can limit ones vision and success, but there are activities and strategies that people use successfully to shift their focus forward when troubling thoughts weigh us down?

Please share what specific activities keep that positive mindset active?

Here are some thoughts that come to mind for me:
  • Develop a winning attitude. You may have failed many times before... but if you Look at failure as a LESSON rather than a LOSS, you have gained more experience towards success.
  • See the positive in everything. This can be a challenge... I had cancer a few years back and it was hard to see positive it that, but I now see cancer as a life-changing experience. It removed me from a very stressful job and into a life where I can spend a whole lot more time with my family and kids and not deal with that stressful job I once had with no family life.
  • Sow positive seeds... Positive thoughts and deeds are the seeds... positive outcomes.... are the fruits of our labor.
  • Take responsibility. Growing old is inevitable... growing up is a choice. Even if our parents were negative, let's not blame them, but understand that we can proceed along the path that we have been accustomed to, or we can choose an entirely new one. Take charge of your life... and make it as good and wonderful as you would like it to be... Ralph Waldo Emerson once said. Life is neither good nor bad... but thinking makes it so... (Shakespeare used similar lines) Maybe there is truth in the sayings of these great minds.

    Awesome post.

    Mindset is 99% of the battle. The technical stuff online can be learned, the strategies can be learned and everything else can be shaped. But if you're a negative person, you'll never make it and have a miserable life.

    My mindset now is, "If this thing fails, I don't care, I'm not taking it personally. Maybe it's just not meant to be. But if I had never tried it, I'd never know for sure. So now I know one more way to NOT do things. That makes me smarter."

    Yeh trying to see the positive definitely helps - an 'attitude of gratitude' and all that. I try to be thankful for even the seemingly insignificant things and find this helps nip any debilitating thoughts or action from taking hold.

      Gratitude changes attitude. You said it right and this is the mindset that I actively follow. Being thankful makes you content, happy, and extremely positive. It definitely washes away all the negativity. And, whenever you encounter a situation that can lead you down that road of negativity, have the presence of mind to thank God (or whatever deity you believe in) that you are not in a worse situation.

    One another way which helps me to keep positive mindset, is when something happend, no matter good or bad, I think it is all of justly. Don't get upset if you loose, it's only a signal, that you should change something in your life, and start from yourself, change the way of thinking, and you'll see, how your life becomes better.

      At my age I'm thankful for every day that I'm able to solidly plant my feet on the floor. My day starts in a spirit of gratitude and continues throughout the day. I'm thankful for my family and my friends. I almost had a heart attack a while back so I'm very happy that my blood still flows regular like.

      Beyond that I'm just glad to be a part of the human community. So whatever happens that might try to get me down has to fight all the good stuff I have going for me.

    Being personally responsible for my own well-being has helped me in an incredible way. I was able to overcome addiction, and it absolutely changed my life.
