The mind is set up to resolve problems. When you pose a problem to be resolved and then let go with whatever comes that is brainstorming and it you using one aspect of the mind.

Visualizing is another aspect of the mind. When you can think one particular thought and see it as if it is so already but you just see it in your minds eye.
We visualize when we remember or think of something we want.

Brainstorming can lead to visualizing the results of an idea but they are different.

And as I understand it, when the scientists put probes on peoples heads to see brain activity, different areas of the brain or used for brainstorming and visualizing.

When a child starts to think of candy she dreams she already has it and is licking it, not dreaming in her sleep but in her mind. When she decides to get the candy, she may brainstorm on the fastest way to get it from her mum

I understand what you're all saying, but i was told that when we visualize the end result of the goal that we are wanting, then our subconscious will attract us all we want but will also give us ideas to attain those goals, so isnt this is same as brainstorming, that when we brainstorm we are in essence doing the same thing, so why visualise?

Visualizing to me is building a model of the future. You need to already have the ideas to visualize I believe.

    Hey James,

I think you really need to think about this. Visualizing is feeling, seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting and in your mind living the moment. It is, it already happened. As you are visualizing you are seeing the thing that you are living from that time, that space, that emotion. It is not the now. It is basically like a memory of the future. One that you have the ability to stop as it plays and pick out almost anything and zero in on it.

When you are brainstorming are just coming up with ideas on a way to achieve or attain a goal. You have no actual knowledge that it will yet get you to your desired goal, you are creating an option that might work. Something for you to try and gain knowledge of how the outcome will work. It might, it might not, you have not tried to use it for the thing that you are brainstorming for.

I hope this makes sense to you. And I hope that you do see that while an idea may come to your during your visualization, it does not mean you know how it was implemented to achieve that yet. You will still have to work to gain the level of skill you have in your visualization. =D

visualizing is definitely a brainstorm as it activates a lot of new pathways in the brain.

I think one has nothing to do with the other, not in the sense I feel you are trying to referr to.

Visualize means take the idea and make it 3 dimensional in your mind, almost like living it.

Brainstorming is getting many ideas but not necesarilly focusing your attention into making them a 3d experience or semi-reality.

Visualizing and brain storming are different. When you visualize you believe that you have the object you are seeing in your mind. You can touch it, smell it and know it is yours. I visualize my new car and sometimes I see myself sitting in it. Visualizing can put you in another place from where you are at present.

Brain storming is the gathering of ideas.

      Thank you all for replying

I think what i said has been taken correctly by some and understandably in another way by others so please allow me to clarify my reason for asking this question and from which i hope your answers can help me and others that may have this same thought or conundrum

When I speak of visualisation, i mean that by which we read in the heart of almost all self-help books which says to visualise the end goal we want.

By doing this i believe from my research that we will eventually impress or impregnant the end goal into the subconscious mind, perhaps acting the RAS (reticular activating system) or the Automatic success mechanism

Eitherway I believe that then the subconscious will work within us to seek and work on achieving that goal, throught motivation and action and also cause a resonating vibration that will align and bring to us the same as we have impressed thus none as the law of attraction

Its the first part that i was querying about, where once we have impressed it i believe amongst perhaps many other ways we will also have creative ideas spring forth into our minds, ideas that the subconscious is giving us to act on that will take in the direction of the goal if not obtain that goal itself.

This pouring out of ideas when i had read about made me wonder if this is the same as if i sat and got a pen and paper and brain stormed all the ideas I could in regards to the same end goal i would like to obtain

The reason for asking this question was because like most i am a great brainstormer and planner but when it comes to implementing eventually my motivation dies away...its usually very very high at the start

Also i know i procrastinate usually due to the following reasons, a fear of failing, a fear of wasting my time - such as doing all the work and achieving little, a confusion - such as always wanting to do different other things and the final usual reason is not wanting to do hard work or boredom

Now i personally feel that perhaps visualization itself as well as pouring out ideas from the mind only pours out those ideas that work or will bring us to the end goal visioned but perhaps also builds out inner confidence and motivation to actually take action with zest or zeal, however since i have yet to start visualising and i am a real newbie at this i thought and wondered if anyone else here can answer this for me and others....so erm please answer

      thank you

May I also add that the actual act of visualising itself, such as seeing and feeling in a relaxed alpha state of mind isnt the query but that from that visualising what happens from intuition to ideas is more what im pondering on...and perhaps this is a biggie for me because how can we know which idea it is that we are to pursue i mean sometimes in the shower i can have an idea of something cool but why the time im out and dry and dressed its forgotten

      thanks
