Frustration is NOT your enemy!

If there's one thing that EVERY IMer knows, it's the feeling of frustration. There's a good chance that you're feeling it right now, which is why you clicked on this thread. You're frustrated because you've put in loads of work and you're not seeing the results you want to be seeing and should be seeing. Maybe people aren't clicking through on your articles. Maybe your site is sitting back on page 5. Maybe you just spent X$ on advertising and you're not getting the ROI.

It sux, I know. We all know. We've all been there. Before you decide to say screw it all and walk away from everything that you've worked so hard on, know this: This frustration is trying to tell you something. It's trying to tell you that there's a part of your plan that faulty. It's trying to tell you that there some part that you need to change.

What do you do if you get behind the wheel of you car only to find that it doesn't start? Do you disown it, walk away from it? Of course not. You try to find out WHY. It could be something insanely simple that you could fix in 3 minutes, especially if it's been working for you before.

On the other hand, it could be something more complex, something that won't be obvious at first glance. You'll need to do some more investigating to find the faulty mechanism. Pull out the troubleshooting guide and see what the experts are saying (IE, use the search function on Warrior.) Still not able to pinpoint the problem? Ask a friend. There are countless people here who have experienced the same problems before and are willing to offer their advice to get you back on the road.

All the work, time, and effort that you have put in has value, it would be a huge shame just to walk away. You've constructed your site. You've got your foot in the door of that coveted CPA network. You've submitted enough quality work to earn preferred statuses in the article directories. You have a foundation on which to build.

Even the efforts that didn't produce tangible results have value if you give them value. The more you choose to learn from them and to avoid making the same mistakes, the more valuable it will become. Your efforts will only be wasted if you choose to walk away.

Frustration is not failure. If you let it, frustration will guide you on the path to success. All you have to do, is take a deep breath, clear your mind, and listen.

    Hi MTVida,

I agree, a lot of us tend to give up when we are frustrated. When we feel frustrated, it's as if we are in a state of tension that is some uncomfortable, we kind of feel all tied up, all squashed up, choked etc. And as a result, we end up being frustrated with frustration and we just let go of it to "feel comfortable". We forgot that frustration was there to tell us a message. To tell us that for some reasons our goals are not being reached.

Lots of us end up thinking FRUSTRATION = "Need for fast solution" and when we don't get it, we give up. Instead, Frustration is just telling us that there is a need to look for solution. And if we are patient enough, frustration will point us to what is wrong. And when we do know what is wrong specifically, flip the coin, and we will see the other side of the coin, of what needs to be done exactly to be right.

I plead guilty! That's often the time when I'll start getting bad ideas, like browsing WSOs and clicking on the one that say 20min=$1000, when really what I need to do is re-focus my energy.

        Hi MTVida,

I guess, we are all guilty of it some time or another, because it is so inherent in all of us to want to be productive/efficient. We keep looking for answers. solutions everywhere, when sometimes the answer and solution is just right in front of us. And like you said, when we re-focus our attention and energy, it is surprising sometimes that the solution was a gift inside us all along. Unveil your gift within MTVida. Good luck!!!

I totally agree. Frustration is the true key to a mistake or problem you're having. I see it like this, you're not frustrated with the work you're trying to do, but the work you can't seem to do.

People need to fight through the frustration and keep on going, change it up a bit and see what works. It takes time!

Well you just hit the nail on the head and drove it home.

There is not a person I know that has not walked away from something just to get away from the hassle.

I on the other hand see it as a challenge, and I will not be beaten by anything that I know is suppose to work. (stubborn to the core)

So anyone out there, just get a little stubborn streak in you and push forward.

Although i did not come to this thread because i am in frustration however i cam across your feed to see how people overcome on it. Frustration is not an uncommon thing.Everyone at some point gets frustrated by something he/she did not expect to happen with him/her or by a continues unwanted environment. for example, Somalians are frustrated from hunger. However, the best way, though difficult, is to have faith in GOD and try to survive until someone comes to get you out from such a situation just like UNHCO trying their best to get Somalians out of some hunger and medical issues.

Well said. I absolutely agree! Your point reminds me of a quote I love. Think it was Zig Ziggler who said something to the effect of: Trying something and failing is not being stupid. Repeating the same actions over and over, and expecting better results IS stupid! If you change nothing, nothing will change. Anyone who has put in the time to start marketing has already made changes. Don't be afraid to change if what you're doing isn't working.

This is a great post because the subject is so humanly universal. A while back I was experiencing frustration, I didn't call it that because I'm an older gentleman who shouldn't be experiencing something like that. Nevertheless, I was frustrated. Partly this was due to my always trying to find a simpler, easier, less painful way to build my business. It was a natural set up for frustration. I ended up watching Netflix instead of working.

Recently, I came across a mentor who by challenging me and some others caused a reawakening of my initial desire to create a business. I think it was that special timing of teacher appears when most needed and wanted. Anyway, without looking for shortcuts and plunging forward toward a firm objective I found that the frustration has evaporated into oblivion. I am having more "fun" doing what needs to be done than ever before.

I don't know if a mentor is the answer for every one who is frustrated with their business growth but it certainly is working for this member.

I'm glad to know the rest of you can relate, that you can see the value that frustration can bring. It doesn't need to be an obstructive state. We can take the good from literally any situation, which is why a positive mind-set is soooo important when you're pursuing your goals, in IM or elsewhere in life.

Well I can tell just from looking at my dad that frustration in certainly not age specific .

It sounds to me like the frustration you had before was due to you being somewhat unfocused, which seems is quite often the case. I know us noobs all like the idea of a successful IMer revealing their marketing strategy, but that's not always what need. The mentor you found may have helped you create a clearer vision of your goals. That within it's self is probably more valuable than any step-by-step money pulling method.

  • Frustration is painful ~ totally painful , sometimes which almost getting angry, slap the table, almost crying out why everything doesn't work , really, that deep pain emotion is speechless.

Personally I have to say I need to pass through 4 stage of frustration in order to pull back myself from death valley and start to climb up to success again, as many people will face the same thing too. No matter how hard, it's the process that need to go, just like learning the maths.
