    Hi Ryanman!

Recently, I discovered I rarely take big steps forward due to fear of failure, wasting time or making mistakes.

It's amazing how immobilizing those 3 fears are!

My largest challenge is taking a step forward because it has become so comfortable to learn and educate myself.

Too bad the money tree is near dry and its time to get the ball rolling, so at this moment, lack of funds is what motivates me!

If this weren't the case, making things fun would motivate me! Once I get my feet wet a couple times, setting challenging but reasonable goals will keep me truckin'!

    Thanks for the thought!

I keep focusing on my future, my goal, and making a commitment to completion.

As far as I'm concerned, the only way someone can fail is if they QUIT and so quite simply, I never cease to keep my eyes focused on the prize.

There might be struggles at times, and no doubt there are frustrations...but in the end, will it be a worthwhile fight? Absolutely.

    Just mt 2 cents !

You should try to gain some insight into WHY you feel like quiting. It may be that you need to re-assess what you doing or the entire direction that your life is heading in. Feelings, even negative ones, may well be offering you the opportunity for getting some useful feedback and altering your course of action. Perhaps whatever you are doing is not congruent with your core values and you ought to quit rather than continue fighting yourself. Sometimes the "negative" is a blessing in disguise that gives us valuable insights to new paths of action.

I have my moments when I just want to throw my hands up in the air yell, "I quit!". But these personal pity parties don't last long because deep down I know that giving in is not an option. If I can't fix my financial situation today I can at least do some sort of exercise to improve my health, reach out through a phone call or email to someone that I've been meaning to re-connect with, read a little bit from that book that's been sitting on my table. Small things that still give me a sense of positive forward movement, or taking control, of knowing that I can keep going. This keeps that window of opportunity open just a crack in the hope that things will eventually get better.

For me, giving up is not an option. I keep focused on my goals no matter what the hurdle. Actually, I felt a bit bummed about not being adept in a certain important area of my business but then I thought, "I always run into hurdles. It's always hard for me at first. But, then I keep on researching, learning, and talking to people until I finally get it."

      Hello Omari Taylor Here,

When I get discouraged I just think about my "Why" and the reason I doing what I'm doing. Thinking about my "Why" is more that enough motivation to get me through anything. Anyone reading this that ever feels like quiting you must have a goal that is so powerful you will stop at nothing to reach it.

What often works for me is looking at things as a challenge and an opportunity for personal growth. A person may feel like giving up but if what they're imagining, planning, and striving for is something important to them there's every reason to keep going. As I like to say: "A man's strength is developed through many and great trials, tribulations and challenges." So you may as well keep going and learn something amazing about yourself.

For me there's nothing worse than knowing I quit something which was important to me. I'd rather face pain, failure, humiliation, rejection, and self-doubt than wrestle with knowing that I gave up. So if you can accomplish something- and you almost always can- you may as well go ahead and accomplish it. That's what I always say.

If you think you are beaten...you are

If you think you dare not...you dont

If you'd like to win, but you think you can't?

Its almost certain that you won't

If you think you'll lose... you've lost

For out in the world you'll find

Things begin with a fellow's will

It's all in the state of mind

If you think you are outclassed...you are

You've got to think high to rise

You've got to be sure of yourself before

You can ever win a prize

I actually allow myself a limited time to have a pity party(operative word is limited). Acknowledging my frustration, sitting with it for a bit, and then transmuting it into action gets me going.

Reading books that reaffirm my belief that god is within us and tapping into that power propels me forward when I want to say the "hell with it all!"

Recalling a past success and focusing on my "compelling why" helps, too.

It's not just ONE thing, but a combination of things that helps me when the going gets tough.

Find what works for you. And sometimes what works will change.

Don't just have a picture or poster of your dream car if it's a car you're after. Go find a dealership and take a seat in the car on the showroom floor. Take a test drive, even!

And yes, I've actually done this to keep myself motivated when I thought things were going kind of bad. It not only is a distraction from the negativity, it makes everything you are working for a 5-senses experience. You can see it, touch it, taste it (at least that new car smell that overwhelms your senses!), hear it (when you crank the engine), and smell it.

If you are having trouble gravitating toward your dreams, find a way to turn them into a 5-senses experience. It makes it more real for the subconscious mind, which will work its magic and come up with results in ways you do not expect, often when you least expect it.

I once needed to raise some quick cash. What I did was, I sat down and made a list of all the ways I could possibly make money, both legal and illegal. I refused to place any sort of restrictions on the idea flow. While I had no intention of doing anything illegal, the removal of restrictions allowed my subconscious mind to work its magic and come up with two additional ideas that WERE legal that I probably would not have thought of had I not also listed the illegal ones. And from there I had the direction I needed to raise the money I needed quickly, effectively, and yes even legally.

Another thing you can do if things are REALLY bad? Skip a meal. Heck, most of us can probably skip a couple of meals and not screw our bodies up so bad. What I mean is, get uncomfortable. Get uncomfortable enough to make your mind think differently. Do something that you would not ordinarily do. It will change your perspective, and possibly give you new ideas that will work for you, that will give you the success you crave.

There was a point some months back where I was very discouraged. I felt that others were posting about making money quickly and I was still spending more than I was making online and under tremendous financial pressure. And then I realized.... so what that it takes me longer to find the key to success... as long as I keep trying different keys... as long as I'm careful and don't simply try the same thing over again. Then I know I can get it.

Watching people trying to find the right key for the right lock was actually one of the tasks in one of the Amazing Race shows (a couple seasons ago). Some people who had been trying to find the right key for their lock for an hour or more were just emotionally devastated when another contestant would run up and by sheer luck find the correct key in a half-dozen tries and pass them by. Other folks were very good at not taking their eyes off THEIR goal, their key, their lock.. so what that guy just dashed ahead of me and life isn't fair. I'm going to get it. I'm going to get it.

Stay focused. Make sure you learn from your experiences and repeat after me: I'm going to get it.

    Just my 2 cents.

Well, it really boils down to what you want out of life. Let me ask you this:

    Do you want the following:

    1. A "real" job.
    2. Long hours.
    3. Mean bosses and co-workers.
    4. A possibility that your income could be suddenly cut off by your employer (Termination or Layoff).
    5. Struggling to pay bills.
    6. Living in a normal home.
    7. Driving your old beat up car.
    8. Your hours are set for you.
    9. Having to wake up to a blaring alarm clock (day shift).
    10. Having enough energy to stay up (night shift).
    11. Get paid for far less than what you and your time are worth.
    12. Having to swallow your pride.
    13. Depression despite the fact you DO have a source of income.
    14. Tons of stress.
    15. Being just an average Joe!

    Or do you want this:

    1. A job that you enjoy.
    2. Varied hours (short or long, your choice).
    3. NO bosses and NO co-workers.
    4. Zero possibility that anyone else other than you can cut off your income.
    5. Bills are paid for.
    6. Living in an above average home.
    7. Driving the coolest car in your hood.
    8. You set your hours.
    9. Wake up when YOU want to.
    10. Go to sleep when YOU want to.
    11. Get paid for far more than what you and your time are worth.
    12. Being able to give the finger or the crotch chop to ANYONE who bosses you around.
    13. Big smile on your face all day everyday.
    14. Tons of relaxation.
    15. Being among the people that look down at all the broke or underpaid idiots!

So when you look at it, think about what you have and what you COULD and SHOULD have if you don't give up. Besides, giving up is the absolute easiest thing every living, breathing soul on Earth can do. It is also the absolute worst thing every living, breathing soul on Earth can do.

EDIT: One other thing: For my fellow warriors that are struggling to make money online: Take my post, print it out, and put it in front of your workstation. I hope that this will motivate you to keep going. Because the more I think about the BS I know of at jobs, the more it sickens me to death!

I have been using tools from Access Energy Transformation and asking questions (the mind loves to solve a puzzle). These two work well for me:
    1. How does it get any better that that? (this can work for good or bad situations)
    2. What else is possible?
You don't just think about what the answer is--you allow it to come to you. And you can repeat the question over and over like a mantra and it will help you get out of a yucky place and start to feel better.

I learned one thing when i was 12 years old and most of you guys must heard that story as well but let me revise it here:
There was a king who was sitting in a camp and was about to give up and then suddenly he saw a spider climbing on the wall. The spider get down and start climbing again and again and at last after 6 or 7 tries he succeeded in climbing and the king said to himself that its a small spider and don't give up so how can I being a super human.
This story is not much impressive for few people but it is still the best way of moving yourself when you feel like giving up

When I think about giving up and doing something else. I think about not just why I am doing this but Who I am doing it for. Which is namely my kids. I work to give them a better life. So I can give them the things I never had. I don't just mean material things. But things like being there to tuck them in at night because I can work when I want. Or if it`s about of a lost love I don`t listen sad music or I try to get me around people as much as possible. If it`s about money that I`ve lost, I thinking about the periods of time when I`ve made good money and try to make me believe that if those happen once, it can happen again.

I don't think about giving up. If I make a serious goal, I take "giving up" off the list of possible options. Tweaking my plan, yes. Scrapping everything and starting over from scratch with a new approach, yes. But giving up is not an option. It may take longer than I'd planned to reach the destination I want, but I'll get there.

Struggles in everything we do are just part of transitions. Do you notice how hard, painful or akward at first every new thing/phase of life is?

Giving up is a way to not accept change.

Want change? then giving up is not a part of your choices.

For me, it is remembering if I don't stay active and product I will have to go back to my worse fear a j.o.b. and that is not an option.

  • You have to stay focused and know that giving up is not an option. Surround yourself w/ like mind successful people. If needed, hire a coach/mentor (strongly recommended). Who better to learn from than those who had gone before you.

Determine your motivation level. My motivation level is not returning to Corporate America. What if I don't want to go to lunch at noon or don't want to work at 8am?

I also love the quote below. Hang in there. You never know, we could possible do a JV some day.

Whenever I feel like quiting ,I just sit down and take a litle mbit of my time to think about the goal, the gain and my present situation(which I am not confortable with anyway). Then I will see the need to press further and continue.

I remind myself of a couple things...

    1) This is tougher because the rewards are FAR greater
    2) The only way to lose is to quit

Ryan, you are on this forum learning how to make a difference in your life while MANY others are out goofing off and adding zero value to their lives or others.

I don't know you personally, but I know you won't quit.

Tough spots are just little tests to make sure you're still awake, interested and hungry enough....

I make no decision based on how I feel, whether for good or bad. I have made a commitment to myself to do this business, and come hell or high water that is what I'm going to do. So even when I feel like quitting, it has nothing to do with what I will actually do. It's just a feeling, that's all. This too shall pass.

You need to remember the lesson in Think and Grow Rich about the guys who quit just three feet from the gold vein.

Most people who fail do not realize that success is just around the corner.

    Make it a great day!

Sometimes I think it just means maybe you need to change direction.

I read this story about James Dyson, the guy who did the Dyson vacuum cleaners...hang on let me see if I can find it....ok, here is the article

    Failure Doesn't Suck

Don't give up. Clear your head, do something completely different, and come back with a new set of eyes and mindset.

You ever wonder how it works that sometimes we are looking for something we misplaced, and fret over not being able to find it, and worry about it, only to find it after we stop looking for it?

    Same here.

how do you keep on going if you feel like giving up my answer is friends and family support. With out friends or family to support and cheer you up you will mostly likely feel like giving up and started loosing hope and grip.

I've already seen a lot of this kind of situation before. For example if you are in a sports or something like competition and you feel like your are already loosing cause you have no support and feels like giving up. But when you look at the crowd and see your parents or friends cheering for you. It really builds up confidence and you started to grow competing again and determined to win for them. Because they are cheering for you.

    Here is what I do:
I take a break from the computer, go outside and I go for a walk.
I listen to Jim Rohn or Brian Tracy for motivation

When things are slow I know one of two things:
    1) I am missing some information that is holding me back
    2) I am missing a skill that is not letting me move forward

Once I discover what it is - I then go and get it!

Interesting. Sometimes it is time to change tactic and therefore you hold your main goal but give up on a tactic. Therefore it is not technically giving up. I suppose you need clarity wether you are giving up on the tactic or you are giving up on yourself

It's like this, when I feel that I can take another step, I took one at a time, slowly but surely. But there are lots of obstacles in life. Giving up is not the only option, there are other ways to move on forward. And if we failed, well it's part of our life where we learned a lesson. (I keep on going even if I feel like giving up), my motivation is that I'm not doing it for myself but because of my love ones.

I can relate to this now as I am facing this situation where fear overcomes me, i feel like giving up because everything i did just doesn't seem to work, i tried and failed, many times, so therefore i am struggling and having mixed emotions and torn between fear of failing again and making more mistakes at the same time i have this attitude that i can never give up because of my goal, my dream that i will make it despite of anything no matter what. i just hope it will work out for me.

Keeping going no matter what is my life's work. (Perhaps it should be everyone's life's work)

Humans have 2 brains. The one in the head that says "I can" and the one in the gut that says: "I must".

I go with the gut. It moves the failure factor to the lowest of my priorities. I have found in my research over the last 30 years that failure is a actually a good thing. That's how immunity is built, both in the mindset and in the body.

It's only the "perception" of failure that's harmful because its often interpreted in the head as some sort of serious flaw in our ability to ever move forward.

This aspect is the main theme of my new free DVD entitled "Immune To Failure" which I will release in September. (PM me if you'd like advance notice of the release)

    Great comments here from everyone.

    More power to you all.
