The pain separates the losers from the champions

That is what I just listened to from Arnold's documentary pumping iron.

Experiencing pain
in your muscles and aching...

and just go on and go on.

And this last
two or three or four repetitions...

that's what makes the muscle then grow.

And that divides one from a champion
and one from not being a champion.

lf you can go through this pain barrier,
you may get to be a champion.

lf you can't go through, forget it.

And that's what most people lack,
is having the guts.

The guts to go in and just say, ''l'll go
through and l don't care what happens.''

lt aches, and if l fall down....
l have no fear of fainting in a gym...

because l know it could happen.

l threw up many times
while l was working out.

But it doesn't matter,
because it's all worth it.

How does this relate to me?

Well, recently I have launched a project that is not bearing any fruit. I have not exhausted all my options but I magically feel like it will work. My mind is f***king with me again! So today I went on a rampage creating unique content on youtube and articles.

I have decided to feel this empathy and sadness of failure and charge it head on!!! Charge this empty feeling of worthlessness with energy of hard work and perseverance.

Just have to keep pushing forward!

  • how does exercising muscle relate to life?

no pain, no gain - muscle tissue has to tear and be some pain for the body to repair itself stronger and better.

    must do every week

    use it or lose it

    gives you energy

    only way to create

the way to create what you want is by Direct Involvement and Repetition, whether it's physical muscle or mental habits and positive change.

from nothing to something ( bigger muscle, better self-confidence, or bigger bank account) .... all tangible results.

    Life IS Just Like Exercise!

Yeah, my Tennis coach who had our school state champion like 5 years in a row said "The only way you know you're growing is when you start to feel pain."

It's completely true. You have to stretch beyond what you thought you could. The next time it's not as difficult to do the same. Then you stretch just a little bit further. And the time after that even further. Without some pain you're never going to reach your full potential.

The thread title reminded me of the ABC show "Wide World of Sports" and Jim McKay's famous line, "The thrill of victory, and the agony of defeat." Well, it's not just on the field of play or the ring or the track, to the extent that we live life we will daily be faced with choices that may provide either pleasure or pain. It's what we do about the choices that makes the difference between success or not success.

I remember when my father told me before a spanking, "This hurts me more than it does you". Of course I didn't believe him and I'm sure I said so, only in my mind though. But, when I became a father I discovered the truth.

What if he hadn't been willing to experience the pain of disciplining me and I turned out spoiled or lacking respect or any of the other characteristics that result from an undisciplined life? When I see my son today and also his children who experienced the same discipline I have to say it was worth the pain.

Heb 12:11 For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. (ESV)

Like going the extra mile.... every single time.

That's a systematic way of growing, of never getting complacent, the habit making of great deeds by daily effort.

    Thank you
