Can I do this? My 30-Day Challenge

I am on a 30-day challenge to take action and implement Jay Boyer & Kieran McDonogh's "Get Connected" WSO. If I implement one idea every day, it will take me about a month to get through all the methods in their program. I decided the best way to keep my focus and not get distracted is to make this public declaration, and to post my progress every day. I know the WF members will help me stay on course and help me through any problems I might encounter, so I have no excuse if I fail to follow through.

Today is my first day on the challenge, and I'm doing method #23 (I don't think it is fair to Jay and Kieran for me to reveal everything, so I'll have to be creative in describing my progress). This looks easy from the outside, but as I got into it, it wasn't as easy as it first appears. I thought I could just "do it and get it over with," but I wasn't prepared enough to do it that way. So instead of trying to do it all at once, I will add it to my daily list and do it once every 2-3 days. I'm setting a goal to do it 10 more times during the challenge.

Until tomorrow then ...

(Eeeks, once I hit "submit" I really have to do this ...)

Making a public commitment is a good idea to push yourself and avoid procrastination. Congratulations!

I don't know about the 30 day challenge you are following but, if you need any help, feel free to contact me (you can reach me on Facebook). I know how hard beginnings are!

Good job for making the committment. I don't know what it is you are talking about but if it will get you to the goal you have, then great!

You are right, beginning is hard, but it is so much easier when I have great supporters cheering me on. Thanks!

Good on you for going public.

Nothing is as it seems at first, is it?

There's always something that you don't know, that you have to stop for and either learn (and become very cranky because you are interrupting your concentration flow) and then find it hard to get back into that space you vacated!

I think that's why a lot of people wander around in IM for years and then one day, they "just get it". Everything they need to know to move on a project, they can actually implement, then there's no stopping them.

Will you post your updates in here for us or how are you going to do it?

    Looking forwards to your success.

Mary, how right you are. I'm already finding that I need to take detours just to implement the steps. I now think it's not going to happen quite as fast as I thought, but I'm still going to try to make daily progress.

I am going to post daily updates, along with what I am learning. And I thank you for offering your shoulder. What a generous offer!

Ok, here I am on Day 2, feeling a little like a deer in the headlights, but still pressing on.

I got a great bit of advice from Kieran McDonogh yesterday, which is to think strategically about this process. I'm going to "mindmap" the process so that I don't waste time or find myself backtracking. Today I will spend some time better defining the strategic points, and where each "getting connected" point fits. I'm still moving forward and implementing #29 today. It's really an on-going strategy, so I'm creating an awareness of trying to implement it each day. It's those small steps that count. Just think of climbing pyramids or mountains. If you think about hundreds of steps to the top, it seems overwhelming. But just focusing on one step at a time still gets you there.

Thanks again for your encouragement and support.

    Jan,
    Thanks for your reply too...

I was just having a break in the garden, working on a project I probably should not have started.
I have to dig out the soil to level a bit of yard and it's covered with millions of entwined old roots and rubbish.

I thought of abandoning the project, but thought...
What if I just stretched my back every hour for 10 mins in the garden, instead of doing weights or housework?
I only need to do a foot at a time and in 8 days I'll have it all done!

I can't believe the energy that gave me.
So, yes, one step at a time is good, as long as you can see the end goal you are heading towards.

Here I am, checking in for Day 3. I am taking my efforts into a "dinosaur" strategy, but sometimes the dinosaurs can be very effective because people don't use them to connect often. This is method #27 (for anyone who is following along), but the lesson here is one that is often overlooked -- go where others are not because you are more likely to get attention if you are not competing with hoards of others trying to connect. So I challenge you to think of one way to connect that is probably being overlooked by others.

And I'm still working on my overall strategy, but still implementing "ad hoc" according to individual opportunities that arise.

Wow, time has really started to fly by as I get more involved with this challenge. The good news is I am still making progress; now I just have to update the thread.

Day 4: I don't think I am giving too much away to say that some of these methods are linked to WSOs. I am working on my first WSO, and a giveaway WSO, so I chose an "easy" one for today (#3). Turns out, though, that in thinking through the steps, I found myself with questions not exactly related to the challenge, but more to the WSO. Is it possible to use someone else's product effectively as an OTO? If you have thoughts on this, please share them.

Day 5: All this thinking about how to best implement these methods actually gave rise to 3 more new ones, so now I have a total of 33. I am finding that there is great value in simply reviewing the list daily as I plan how to move through the challenge. It keeps me looking for opportunities as I move around the internet for various reasons.

Today I am tackling #4, although it won't be completed today. This one involves developing a proposal, which not only requires strategy to complete, but also will take some time to develop. The end result could be a WSO in the future, which is why it came up at this time even though it doesn't have a short-term completion date. I'll be coming back to this later, but for now, creating an awareness to be thinking about the best ways to implement is the action item.

    Still here Jan!

I'll post on here so you know you have at least one constant supporter behind you, egging you on!

I'm in the process of creating a WSO too.
Joined the War Room last month in readiness, so now I just have to prepare the product and learn how to use the WSO automated tool.

Every time a WSO pops up, eg WSO of Day, I feel rather sick, as they are all so good, some with technical wizardry, others with techniques to make your jaw drop and so on.

Now to overcome the "not feeling my offer is good enough" feelings and do it for November, regardless!

Jan. I just found a similar thread in here that started 8/29/11 in reference to Ed Dale's 30 Day Challenge. I found you while looking for it actually. I tried doing it last year but got distracted. You have inspired me to give it another go. This time I'm going to find an accountability partner. Thanks for the inspiration.

    Thank You Gail...

    Where is Jan???

In Australia, some time ago, we had an old Yellow Pages ad and it had a lady trying to get something done and she actually forgot her words and yelled out, as the window in her ad prop got stuck...she yelled out in a never to be forgotten ad lib of the decade..."Not Happy Jan"!

That's part of the Aussie language now, so...

Not happy Jan, Where are You???

Almost finished my 3 books to make into a Xmas WSO...OMG, I hope I can do it OK!

I, too, have been following this thread with interest.

I wanted to make one suggestion.

Change the title of the thread.

"Can I do this?" inserts a question, a seed of doubt.

"I can do this!" is much more of a positive affirmation of a direction chosen and success waiting in the wings.

      Go for it.
