Lazy Tire Kicker Turned Proactive Marketer - My Story

At the request of another member to elaborate in regards to "your situation and how you trained yourself and what you found to motivate you" on a post I made in his thread, I decided to provide a public response just in case it could help other people as well.

For a little over a third of my entire life (I started when I was 13) I have been researching ways to make money online and participating in all kinds of programs and schemes to try and make a substantial income.

For years and years I never accomplished anything significant. Sure I was able to pull down a couple hundred here and a couple hundred there but nothing significant or consistent at all and looking back on it it was because I have always been extremely lazy.

I've literally wasted many 1000's of hours of my life participating in 'get rich quick' ideas or just reading about how to make money and never actually applying it. If I had used only a small fraction of those hours to do something productive and put in some hard work I could easily have developed my own small empire of consistent income online, but the fact is I didn't and neither have so many other people out there who want to make money online.

What I've realized through all of this wasted time is that making money online isn't some incredibly hard process or something that is only reserved for those big gurus and people who already have a lot of money. What making money online comes down to is putting in the time and hard work.

And I would bet my right arm that if anyone out there who has not made any significant money actually put in 10 hours of quality work doing something (not buying the newest WSO or reading through these forums but registering a domain, creating content and implementing different advertising methods) for a few days a week for a whole month, they would certainly make money and could easily start developing their own small online empire. The problem is these people largely will not and a good portion will never step up and be this proactive and instead will see making money online as an illusive myth.

I have just recently made a mentality shift within myself to change from that type of person to the person you need to be to make money (proactive and willing to put in time and hard work). To do this I basically thought to myself how much time I've wasted not being productive and then thought about why I've wasted this time and what I could start doing to make my time count for something.

This wasn't so much a specific sit and think to myself process as it was a natural progression and internalization as I discovered and really began to think about and believe in a strong motivating factor for myself.

What was this strong motivating factor? For me it was my desire to be making money for myself and having the ability to spend it on things that I enjoy. I have grown tired of living off of my parents (I'm a college student and although I do pay for as much stuff as I can they still cover probably 70-80% of my expenses, tuition and housing being the biggest chunk).

After really internalizing this factor and day after day feeling my desire to be able to make money for myself grow I have slowly turned from a lazy tire kicker to a proactive marketer.

It's a very strange occurence that is hard to explain but it's exciting when it happens and helps give you a new found power and drive to succeed.

So what's the point of this long, drawn-out thread?

Well I challenge each and every one of you people out there who haven't achieved the success you would like to online to think of something that really motivates you, think of a reason for why you want to make money online. Don't rush it, just keep it in the back of your head for a few days and the real, deep motivational factor will slowly rise to the surface and make it self apparent. The motivational factor that can actually help you make this change.

For the longest time I thought my motivational factor was to make a lot of money and never have to get a real job but this was just a superficial wish. It wasn't until recently when I came to the realization that what I really wanted to achieve was not having to rely on other people (my parents in particular) to help financially support me that I was able to become far more proactive and willing to put in the time and work necessary.

So I challenge all of you to find this deep seeded motivational factor within yourself and once you do to internalize it and watch the effect it has on your work ethic and ability to actually take action and make something happen to start your process of making money online and becoming successful.

This post was quite an experience for myself because I had no idea what exactly I was going to say and wasn't exactly sure of any of the factors that caused my change when I started writing this post.

I hope this was helpful to you guys and if I can spark a little something in just one person to get them started on a path to succeeding online then I will consider this thread a success.
