The Law of Reversed Effort

I just felt like sharing something with you all today.

Ever hear of this law called the Law of Reversed Effort? Joseph Murphy writes about it in his book, Power of Your Subconscious Mind.

Have you ever forced yourself to do certain things, and in the end it turned out ot be worse than when you first started?

It's like those times when you try so hard to make something work, only to discover you're making it more difficult than it actually is.

Or, it's like trying to recall someone's name, and the harder you try, the more it doesn't come to you. Later on, when you're relaxed and not looking for the name, it suddenly just shows up out of the blue.

Could it be that some of you are trying too hard? I know I've been there.

So.. if you're on this forum trying to 'make things happens' (for example by trying to learn everything all at once, or buying multiple WSOs a day) could it be that you're applying this law of reversed effort and ultimately getting nowhere due to information overload?

I share this because this is what I went through when I first got into Internet Marketing 2 years ago

So, what am I suggesting? Relax! Let go of your need to be perfect! All that the WSOs really provide are information (and tools to implement the information). You really don't need so much stuff to start making money. In the end, it's a matter of applying such information.

But what if you could intentionally relax for a time and spontaneously come up with your own unique solution to generate income? (just like the way we eventually let go of wanting to recall a name, and then the name just shows up). Perhaps there is an easier way by relaxing.

So if you're stressed out, relax! Take a time out. Take a warm shower if need be (this works for me very well!) You'll be surprised what answers come to you when you are relaxed!

Good points. I will add a few thoughts.

The demand for universal validity had marked consequences for the accompanying theory of knowledge. It followed therefrom that only those forms of knowledge were legitimate which touched an appealed to what is common in all human beings. The elaboration of the notion of a "consciousness in itself" is no more than a distillation of those traits in the individual human consciousness which we may assume to be the same in all people or niches in marketing.

The foremost aim of this mode of thought was a purified body of generally valid knowledge which is knowable by all and communicable to all.

    Interesting post...

I definitely think that you have highlighted a very popular occurrence on the WarriorForum. But I don't think there is a real correlation between the law of reversed effort and a warrior members inability to stop spending money and start making money.

I think, the difficulty can be found in the persons mindset. The people that purchase WSO are searching for ways to make money. And that is where the problem lies. I think a great majority of people are still in the phase of wanting to make money (I was in this phase once as well).

The act of purchasing WSOs and guides becomes a personal interest/hobby. To a certain point you can say that people are more interested in learning the different ways of making money than actually going out and making money online.

They want to make money but they are not ready to take action on it. Whatever the reason maybe (fear of failure/more work than anticipated/no capital), I think the problem is less about relaxing and more about jumping in and getting things done.

    Just my view.

I do think the law of reversed effort is relevant in many circumstances. It is definitely something worth looking into.

      Eddie,

Thanks for sharing! What you said makes perfect sense. What I noticed is that there is a tendency for people to just buy stuff without doing anything, and yes it ties in closely with fear.

I noticed when I'm more relaxed, I can take action much more easily, so I just thought I'd share it here

A VERY important observation. Don't look to MAKE money - look to HELP people and you will make all the money you can ever want.

When I took programming in school, I often had to let the program that I was writing for an assignment work on the "back burner" of my mind, so to speak. I was not able to do it totally consciously logical, but I let my subconscious mind work it out. I usually got an A.
And people who can't focus and just hobby out on WSOs possibly have the "next new shiny thing" syndrome. I've been guilty of it and am trying to recover from it.

LOL I saw guilty of that last week. Bought 3 WSOs when I realized I wasn't actually doing any of them! Then I realized it's best if I just stuck to one and followed through

Sometimes people have a tendency to get everything right exactly the way other marketers are doing it, like trying to get the perfect looking website, the best campaign, the best SEO keywords, etc, and it's like all they are doing is everything but the marketing itself. I know this because that's what I did LOL

By simply relaxing, I noticed my actions began to flow with greater ease. And one way to relax is to intentionally take a warm shower. And I tend to get some great ideas when I'm in the shower.

Hmm now that I think about it, I'll do that in the middle of my day just so I can get relaxed. I wonder what difference it will make

    Yes,

Your law of reserved effort sounds like a version of the 80/20 principle. It is also called the Pareto law, and basically, it tells us that we are trying too hard....

Just get it done, don't mess around, implement what you know and stop messing around, basically.

From 100%... 80 percent of your efforts are wasted, but most of your achievements come from 20% of what you do.
