This Is Why We Fail to Succeed!

In early youth, big dreams and goals were of abundance and never a thought of failure resided in my mind. I grew up with the idea "you can get what you want" and "you can change your life" when a direction is chosen. Big dreams were plentiful and never lost by the pessimistic persuasion of others or even yourself. Without a glimpse of failure, I chose to be a multi-millionaire, a world-wide traveler and the greatest philanthropist the world has ever known! Back then, giving back to the world seemed the biggest reward there ever was.

When I grew older, reality was made for me. As I was handed a pamphlet by a guidance counselor, with a list of college professions, I was told, "Monique, pick a path. Where are you going? Where do you see yourself?"

Don't get me wrong! I give my deepest respect to people who dedicate their lives to helping youth find a path in life, but with the design of our social reality, how do people rise above the normality? Must I pick a profession from the list?

Eventually, life becomes like a cookie cutter with few choices, the box grew smaller and smaller, and life becomes meager. Until, everyone I'm encircled with, including myself lived in a small box of dreams and desires. Hoping one day, life would no longer be a struggle to just live.

When did life become a designed journey, planned out with few options for true happiness? Being able to change your path by taking a simple step in the other direction no longer seems easy. Why can't I have the true confidence to achieve my goals and dreams like I did when I was younger?

Back then, often many children truly believe with entire mind and heart they can achieve any goal they desire.

There is immense power in a person who puts full mind and heart into something. At this age, the world has no bounds! There are no limits! True belief is in abundance and thinking outside the box is normality!

Anything you want could appear before your eyes. The road to achievement often appears before you like a gateway to promise and opportunity.

My message to you is sit down and rethink all the things you have truly wanted for yourself. Live outside the box! Mental and social restrictions are no longer a concern for you. Remember the freedom of mind you possessed when you were a child. Relive this freedom! Go after that dream!

You can conquer anything you deeply desired, no matter what excuse you give yourself, you can own your own business, you can become a millionaire, you can travel the entire world, and you can lose 25 pounds in two months!

Today, tear down those walls! You no longer live in the box!

We do possess a lot of optimism at the age of 10.
So many people let it go because they listen to what the world tells them. I know better. I know we can all rise above the norm if we want to and we can make a positive difference in this world

    This rings true to me.

Never let people define who you are or what you should do in life. It can be hard at times to live life on your own terms, but god d*mmit, theres no other way to live.

Otherwise your more like a robot following someones instructions. You gotta blaze your own path through a mountain of bullsh*t. Sure its hard sometimes, but it is without a doubt, the best thing you can do in your life.

Yeah, I agree, you do have to set your mind free once again.

Its like a kind of rebirth of the mind. It is a lot harder to unlearn that which was taught you growing up, then to learn new things.

I like the sayings "rebirth of the mind" and "set your mind free".

Thank you for the kind words.

I do not literally want to be 10 years old again, it was a way of describing how a mind is programmed over time by its surroundings and go back to those times when your mind if full of dreams without limits.

I just put this story on my blog, I know now I need to revamp that part because its a bit unclear.

      Thanks,
      Monique

      Haha! Very funny!

That was so not the point of the story!

I do remember how much I hated those things (school, HW, no car)
