Last week I had 30,000 emails in my inbox.

This week - 6.

Here's how:

Eliminate Your Inbox « Underwhelm Yourself

In hotmail you can do something called "sweeping".

This allows you to sweep all emails from a specific email address into a folder of some sorts.

I have about 10 folders that are useful, 2 junk folders, 1 spam folder, and my primary inbox which holds support questions

You are so right that there is a difference between managing and reducing. Do you have set criteria for choosing which lists to unsubscribe from?

I have Yahoo and Gmail accounts for my subscription services. I try to keep my outlook account clear from subscription services. I have setup incoming email rules that filters emails into my sub folders of my outlook inbox. In all it still takes time to clean them out.

    I agree with this.

I have bought a few WSO's and before you know it 20 emails all promoting the same product:rolleyes:

I use a simple system - almost a Darwinian "survival of the fittest" affiliates scheme - 3rd Alert and Your Terminated - asta La Vista baby
    • Send me an email - if it doesn't clearly state what the offer is - you are on Alert 1.
    • If you haven't even researched the WSO or product you are pushing on me you are on Alert 2.
    • You haven't even bothered to write more than 2 sentences to try and persuade me.
    • You didn't even bother changing the script that the JV partner provided you and are sending out a canned email
    • You send the same email to me twice or more (reminder is ok) but not the same blurb.
    • Anyone of these in combination gets me unsubscribing from the mailing list pronto.
    • Oh and my personal favourite - putting the unsubscribe link below the email fold with lots of white space between the main email content and it:rolleyes:

I find it's best that I delete files that I've already opened right away. If it accumulates, I end up closing the account and creating a new one... not a very productive approach.
