Quote From "At The Feet Of The Master"

This is a great quote which emphasizes a lot of what we talk about. Taking action and following instructions.

The book is an old text written under the name "Alcyone" but attributed to Krishnamutri.

Jiddu Krishnamurti - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Background: The author at the beginning of the book in the foreward is giving thanks to his master and acknowledging that without not only his masters words and guidance and his own actions that he would not have succeeded in setting his feet upon his spiritual journey of awakening.

"A man who wishes to succeed must do exactly what is said. To look at food and say that it is good will not satisfy a starving man; he must put fourth his hand and eat. So to hear the masters words is not enough, you must do what he says, attending to every word, taking every hint. If a hint is not taken, if a word is missed, it is lost forever; For he does not speak twice."

All of us are like the student. How many ebooks, WSO's have we purchased? How many lists are we signed up to? How many hours do we spend on this very forum....

How many times have we read through those products and WSO's from the gurus, from the "masters" of our particular trade who are already doing what we want to achieve and yet we do not do exactly as they say, we skip steps, we take shortcuts and we assume that we know a better way...

6 Months later, we are still on the same position and the master is still the master.

When at the feet of the master, I like giving said feet a massage.

Ideally great conversation happens at the same time, the master gets relaxed, and I gain more wisdom as well.

    What goes around, comes around.

I love his later work, and think it's far more profound than this, but still it's really cool to see Krishnamurti's work in a WF thread title! I hope your next thread title will be from a Noam Chomsky book!

I do like the quote, but I love the way JK later spoke about the need to find one's own truth through fearless examination of the whole of life, freedom from authority, etc, after he rejected the role of Messiah that the Theosophical Society has groomed him for nearly his whole life-amazingly independent mind he had! "Truth is a pathless land" is one of my favorite quotes from him.
