"How To Be Happy"

1. Make up your mind to be happy.
Learn to find pleasure in simple things.

2. Make the best of your circumstances.
No one has everything, and everyone has something
of sorrow intermingled with gladness of life.
The trick is to make the laughter outweigh the tears.

3. Don't take yourself too seriously.
Don't think that somehow you should be protected
from misfortune that befalls other people.

4. You can't please everybody.
Don't let criticism worry you.

5. Don't let your neighbor set your standards.
Be yourself.

6. Do the things you enjoy doing
but stay out of debt.

7. Never borrow trouble.
Imaginary things are harder to bear than real ones.

8. Since hate poisons the soul,
do not cherish jealousy, enmity, grudges.
Avoid people who make you unhappy.

9. Have many interests.
If you can't travel, read about new places.

10. Don't hold postmortems.
Don't spend your time brooding over sorrows or mistakes.
Don't be one who never gets over things.

11. Do what you can for those less
fortunate than yourself.

12. Keep busy at something.
A busy person never has time to be unhappy.

Being happy is a choice - one in which we all have to make every minute of every hour of every day. While challenging at times, it is possible to live a life full of happiness - especially when reminded of the tips outlined in your post.

    great list...

so many of us plan for our future happiness.
the "pursue of happiness" is a human right written into the US Constitution...
but this is the wrong approach.
being happy isn't something you should plan on doing in the future...it is something we should choose to be now...
so many of us forget to be happy now so we can plan to be happy in the future....

and OP....please do not use comic sans....its makes me unhappy

Think about all the good things that are happening to you or others and pass it on.

For me, being happy is being contented. I also believe it's a choice. It differs from each one of us. Some say people should learn to be contented and spend more time with people that actually matter, I totally agree with this but there are others who find happiness when they are working so it really depends.

Nice tips! Being busy is definitely a decent way to at least feel decent in life. If you are busy (with potentially positive things) then it is usually harder to focus on negative things.

Those are good tips on how to be happy. It is true that maintaining overall happiness despite unfortunate events is a skill of looking at positives and making the conscious choice of allowing yourself to be happy.

I have shorter definition on happiness...

If you really want to be happy, then there is only one way that you should start walking. That way is leading to yourself (you body, soul and spirit). If you learn how to unite this three things, you will be the happiest person in this world. You know why?

Because, you will be able to feel your feeling and to start to love and respect yourself. If you a ready to do this step, then don't waits your time and start walking. If you reach deep down your soul, you will know how to connect with you spirit and go outside of your body, earth and universe.

If you able to love yourself, then be sure that you are prepare to love the others. By others, I mean your closest one like your family, cousins, friends or something more higher then you!

I've experienced this feeling this year and all I can tell you is... It really change my life!

Great list of things to remember when we're in the thick of it. thanks for posting.

We all strive each day working harder and harder with the goal of being happy.

    That's all wrong.

We need to start off happy, find the pleasure in the things we do by thinking about them definitely.

The day is so much more fun if you go through it with a smile on your face
