Hey,
My mentor Bob proctor taught me something very interesting today and I thought of sharing it with you all.Hope you'll like it And most importantly...Think upon it !

Bob said :
"Money is an idea ! Credit cards are just cards with some info on it and money coins and notes are papers and metals with some ink on it.These things are not money but they represent money.

So what is MONEY ?

Money is an idea . An energy which flows in air and one who focuses on that energy with a positive emotion of getting that money attracted to himself gets RICH !

So just take a dollar bill or credit card in your hand and think about is it really money or a source of representing money ! You can become rich if focus on the wonderful energy and become rich ! "

I loved this idea and hope you will like it too !

I agree. Money does not exist. What we know as money (paper and coins) is simply a representation of exchanging one thing for another.

People used to barter livestock and other items, but as times have changed it became inconvenient to travel with these items. Can you imagine how many cows you'd have to herd to the store these days?

Bob also teaches that people really don't want money, they want the things they can acquire and achieve with it. You should also focus on those things and not necessarily the money involved.

I'm missing the point here. What is the difference between trying to go after the physical representation of money and the "idea" that money represents? I'm lost apparently .

I think the OP is trying to put forth the metaphysical idea of attracting the energy of money, which will manifest itself in the physical presence of money. It is related to the Law of Attraction and the misrepresented idea of Quantum Mechanics.

My thoughts are that money is simply a bargaining tool that you use to get what you really want.

You want a new laptop? The person/company selling it to you wants a certain amount of money ($999) for it. However, you can get a laptop in other ways that don't involve money. Someone could give one to you for free, you could win it in a contest, you could exchange 100 cows for the laptop, you could steal it.

It is basically an exchange of value (except for the stealing). Most people want money because it is a universally accepted bargaining tool that lets them get what they want. You give someone $999 for a laptop, they can turn around and use that money to pay their rent, or buy food, spend on the education, etc.

If you are an adherent of the Law of Attraction, I think it is better to focus on attracting what you want rather than money, because there are other ways to get what you want that doesn't involve money.

Case in point, A few years ago a man bargained his way into a house. He started with a paperclip and kept exchanging what he had with other people until he had something of value that another person was willing to give him a house for.

    T. Harv Eker has an excercise at his Millionaire Mind event. First he talks about money and he certainly agrees that it's nothing more than an idea. Gold, silver, dollar bills are all just physical representations of the idea.

Then he talks about our attitudes about money and how people say they want it but fall short so often in their attitudes around money. Some people subconsciously fear success and money for various reasons. Others don't have trouble getting money but do have trouble holding on to it. This is often because they feel they aren't worthy of success, money, and other good things due to their internal programming. This might have come from parental attitudes and many other causes.

Anyway, back to Harv's exercise. First he talks about being open to accepting money and talks about picking up a coin on the sidewalk and how some people feel it's beneath them to do that. And here's the nugget.

People say they want money but when they don't bother to take it from the sidewalk they're telling the universe they don't really want it... they just say they do. And people will say stuff like, "but it's only a penny or nickle..." or whatever.

But the universe doesn't "think" in terms of the denominations of coins. That's because money is nothing more than an idea. And if someone says they want it but then refuses it when they have the chance to get some, regardless of how much it is, then they don't really want it at all. They just say they do.

So at the seminar Harv's staff throws pennies all over the place and people go around picking them up. It might sound silly but it's an interesting thing. The exercise serves to make us aware of our attitudes about the "idea" of money.

Most of the pennies get picked up right away. But some roll to hard-to-reach places. And it's a kick to watch people when they see one later on after the exercise. Some still refuse to make much of an effort for a penny. And I think that's very revealing as to their internal programming.

Wow. Look at this post. It's turned into a freakin' article.
