Can anyone elaborate on how Tai Chi principles can help bring one closer to success?

I posted or commented on a thread about Aikido, similarly to this.

Thoughts?

It helps me think of my projects and goals as a garden of individual plants to cultivate and work on in a natural, flowing way and time frame. (As opposed to a huge task list of "shoulds" or "commandments" that i HAVE to keep).

It also helps to go with the flow WHEN (not if) you experience setbacks or change. It helps embrace change, which I think is key in this business and if nothing else for mental health.

Interesting stuff. I've practiced Aikido for 9 years and just started practicing Tai Chi, so I was hoping to get some more perspective. Thank you.

"When life pulls, push, when life pushes, pull." Well said, definitely. It seems like a lot of other arts like that, too... Aikido, Judo and so forth...

This is the basis of all non-hits martial arts like aikido, judo, systema and much more.

Applying this to everyday life situations will make your the most powerful thing on earth because you become aligned with nature, and who's more powerful than nature?

This is summed up by what Bruce Lee once said, "Be like water", water doesn't resists, it adapts. Yet it is the most malleable substance but also the most powerful.

A little off topic, but I trained in Aikido for a year once and it is fascinating and powerful. I just don't agree with the philosophy other than as a general mindset. There are exceptions where you need to just hit a fool in his face.

I wouldn't say Tai Chi is good necessarily for self-defense, but for positivity and mindset it definitely is!

Personally, I believe in both "going with the flow" and "striving." Perhaps it is a matter of biology. Some of us are just existing, some are scholars, some are warriors, some are scholar-warriors. For each type it is a matter of aligning with who they are.

Tai Chi really helps you focus and boost your mental ability. Self-defense is one purpose that you can do with this technique, but I also suggest that Yoga can be a big help.
