The Economy Doesn't Suck You Do

Not talking to all you warriors. This is what I say to everyone who continues to talk to me about how the economy is in a recession and how everything is doom and gloom.

Wake up, understand that there is more than enough and there is loads of opportunity to those who will seek it and take it.

So I say to them

"The economy doesn't suck, you do"

    Hello Omari Taylor here,

Finally! Somebody says it! That is exactly the way I feel. I'm tired of everyone talking about the economy and how bad it is. You create your own destiny, so do something about it. But really I do understand. Entrepreneurs have a different mindset and most people are stuck in the employee mindset and not matter how much you try to explain they don't understand. You can sit a person with the employee mindset down and let them watch the whole movie "The Secret" and the still can't grasp the concept. They still can think outside the box. So I've learned, just expose people once, then leave it alone.

Great Post. I love it. Best wishes.

Wow - they watch "the secret" and don't get rich?

      But really I do understand.
I don't think you do. Unless you are fully supporting yourself, your home, and possibly a family - you don't know how hard it is now for people who are losing their jobs. This is not an imaginary recession and even marketers need to pay attention and position themselves well to keep earning online.

I agree that marketers are in a good position to survive - but remember it's many of those people who "suck" that we count on to pay for our products.

LOL - I wonder how many times people will watch that before they realize that The Secret was marketing itself and so much was left out that the whole thing was, while inspirational, quite moot. I can hear the chuckling from the mountain tops in Tibet from here.

Also agree with the rest of it, Kay. Yes, some people will actually prosper from this recession. My grandfather became stinking wealthy during the great depression. But - when all those "sheep" lose their jobs, how are they going to afford your products? Many very independent marketers are already feeling the pinch.

We all have our challenges, but we need to be willing to adapt and overcome no matter what the economic circumstances. It really comes down to having the right mindset.

I get so sick of watching the news these days. EVERY story is just another angle of the same template-the economy is terrible and everybody is losing their jobs.

It's true the economy is in a bad recession, but we've been through these before, and we'll get through this one. Even in good economic times (like the past 5 years or so) lots of potential online (and offline) marketers and entrepreneurs failed, far more than succeeded.

It wasn't because the opportunities weren't there. ANYONE could have made a good living online during these past few years, and they still can. Even if there's 20% unemployment, people still need to buy things and there will ALWAYS be hungry markets.

We all create our own reality, so the economy good or bad has nothing to do with our prosperity. It's how we think and feel about it that affects us for good or bad.

I turned off the news and stay focused on my goals and business is growing despite the so called recession.

Turning the news OFF has helped me tremendously. Specially "negative-mind-chatter" that used to go on.

Can you seriously imagine what 5 -10 years + of watching news, being practically all negative...can you imagine how it affects you subconsciously as it drills you each and everyday?? No

No wonder people feel down about the economical situation. And YES! it ISNT exactly easy. But in these times i truly believe we have a tremendous opportunity to accomplish many things, because inspite of the situation, many people *freeze* and wait for the economy to get better before they DO anything IMHO

You all do realize that some people are not as flexible as you? When you have been stuck in a rut going round and round most of your life and never taking the time to expand your mind.. you carve the rut so deep you will have a really hard time climbing out; when someone tells you that you must now find a new rut.

Most marketers that I have worked with are a different sort of person. I do not think a marketers would have carved a rut in the first place and can just roll over smooth ground when the ecomony creates bumps in the old road. IMHO

This is true if a person REFUSED to think outside the box or even kept an open mind to consider something out of their norm, due diligence on solutions not considered, and keeps doing things the same way or continue to use failing, dated philosophy and methods.

But to say this in a blanket statement is selfish and elitist.

Usually, rich people say the things, especially if they do nothing in their life to give back...their "gift" of giving back, to some, is simply "being" successful.

This lacks of a proper amount of empathy and humanity.

The reason being, everything in the media , educational system and the way a person is raised is : Go to school, get a college degree, get a job, save and invest in financial markets, buy a house, have 2.5 kids and a spouse, get 2 cars, dog, picket fence, retire and go fishing.

I got slapped out of this delusional path toward the american dream by yours truely, Ronald Reagan.

He may have not started this erosion, but he put an exclamation point and christening by swinging a 175 lb. SLEDGE-HAMMER into this american "tradition" with his presidency.

Even today, what is being taught in school thats even close to "financial independence", even at the highest levels of colleges and schools?

Nothing. Most are "veiled" philosophies or methods that use financial independence type terms and keywords, but are "jobs" under the guise.

Also, unless you buy a Franchise or buy a building to make a store or manufacturing or office building suite for business, we are "educated" , in general, that anything that does NOT fall under these or conforms under these methods is considered a scam, ponzy, get rich quick, circus act, street cons, white collar con, super elixir wagon salesman, etc.., ie., INTERNET MARKETING, MAIL ORDER, CLASSIFIED ADS,ETC.

Thats why some immigrants come here and do well.....they "still" have the philosophy WE USED to have before 1920....work , yes, but always aspiring to be a business owner and making a small business, no matter how small, even if you have a job.

The formation of Corporations have eroded this american instinct from our heritage.

The media and educational system pushed this idea hard.

Why would corporations foster independence, when they need more workers, then, in their ever expanding growth while slowly ELIMINATING their small, pesky competition(small business owners), create a monopoly where they dictate the market....."its either us or you do without".

Now, if , after a person gets pummeled thru the years, and has simply closed the door in his mind, without earnest investigation of legitamite out the box philosophies, then that person has fashioned their own prison.

The best charity isn't money, clothes, shelter, food stamps, aid, subsidies, etc.,

Charity that does not make eventually independant is not charity, its simply giving more and fancier crutches, fostering more muscular atrophy.

True charity and giving back is knowledge, truth, education, all that works NOW, TODAY.

Because with REAL truth, knowledge, education of a discipline, charity would be unnecessary.

But this method requires a revolutionary civilization/world and mindset of both the masses and leaders.

The goal of monetary supremacy and monopoly cannot coincide with this.

Only if a person refused to open their mind to other possibilites can you wash your hands of them, especially after repeated attempts to inform them , advice or information that cost nothing but their time and attention.

But to say , " you suck the economy doesn't", people with this sentiment need a human soul transplant.

Might as well title this thread, " I made it --you did'nt--shut up and don't bother me ", or "I'm doing great so F*** you if your not".

Recession is a result of our collective greed ... "to earn more" is placed at top of our priority list ... our negatives and positive frame of minds are all attached to earning .... this, in itself is bad.

People have to focus on their own economy. For example, when the economy was doing great their were still people who were struggling financially. The economy is like the weather. Sometimes it is sunshine, rain, snow or sleet. People have to focus on improving their prosperity and success consciousness. There will always be opportunity in any economy.

In difficult times, people have to evolve sometimes to survive, and almost always to thrive. This is the evolution of self, of skills, of abilities, etc.

Of course, when the winds change, those people may find they were specialized for a situation/mindset/market that no longer exists. Then the door swings the other way.

In every crisis, there is an opportunity. This one is no different.

A large problem is that people have weak mindsets and allow them to be swayed by the sheer onslaught of media we are constantly surrounded by. Its alot of negative manifesting and reinforcement.

The topic of the thread is super cheeky, but does make a firm point. In trying times, one must do better than before.

Some people are not in the right situation to be able to do better... these are the people we need to help out as we can. If they fall, it will be more difficult for the whole... but by helping and encouraging, we can make everything lighter.

Think well and all will be well!

This has turned out to be a great conversation. Thanks everyone for their input.
I understand both sides of the story, the side I wrote about originally when I was basically saying that we take control of our own finances and I also understand the side that says life sucks for some people.

Anyway, I still think we can all prosper even in an economic crisis

What most people don't realize when they talk about 'greed' causing this crisis, is that it applies to all the greedy home owners as well, who bought houses without having the wherewithal to do it.

Now, that's greed as well. Of course, the government will not say that to offend everyone.

I was starting to think that I was the only one to believe that we are not as bad off as the wonderful media would have us believe. I would almost be more inclined to believe that what we were fortunate enough to have for the last several years was a period of great growth and perhaps compared to that we have slowed, but not at all what I would call a recession. Restaurants are still very crowded, stadiums are still selling tickets, artists are selling record amounts of cd's, I could go on. I think that the media loves to manipulate the truth and I'll stop now before this becomes a conspiracy theory thread rather than what it was intended. All that hot air to say that yes we are in charge of ourselves. We can sit back and believe that there is no hope or we can be the captains of our own ships, take responsibility, and make our dreams come true!!

I agree with you completely. I think that are far too many discouraged Americans out there. It seems that people have completely forgotten what makes America so great. Anyone has the opportunity to pursue any dream they desire regardless of how bad times may be. There is always opportunity;its up to the individual to have the courage to seek it.

Actually the economy does suck. There is really no relation to the economy sucking and the ability for an internet marketer to be successful. We're lucky enough that we can sell thousands of products to potentially hundreds of millions of people. People in the offline world do not have this chance since they are probably selling only a few items to a small local region or doing by the hour work.

Dusting yourself off and trying again is a really important step. I know that for me personally I have fallen off my horse many times when it comes to make money online. When I have dusted myself and tried again I found a better way to make money.

People who are not exposed to other income sources other than their 9-to-5 job will find their world crumbling down when there is retrenchment or pay cut. These might even accept the fact that they suck.

Like President Obama said, "in this trying times, one should work hard(er), learn continuously and just pray for a better tommorow (which will surely come)", I modified some of his words, obviously.

I can definitely agree that your outlook has more to do with it than the economy. Even in the WORST times, I have never gone more than a month without full time, salaried employment. It's all just down to how well you can sell yourself to an employer.

The only hard part is making them see how you CAN be perfect for a job soon, even if you aren't right now.

To subscribe to the Warrior Forum to read this post costs money, money that can only be paid by credit card - whether one has a card or not. Imagine if you were on the street before you say I will always survive at my current "status" There is no such thing as an across the board opportunity for a person who has lost their job, their life as they have known it, or even their life as it will become.

We are all so fortunate to have this forum and the input it provides for all of us. That same opportunity doesn't exist for most others because they can't even get here.

It's hard to think of opportunity when you can't even think of where your next dollar will come from.

Many years ago, immigrants could subscribe to the philosophy of hard work yields redemption of dreams. Then they wrote that darned book, "Rich Dad Poor Dad".

What worked then doesn't work today. The values are no longer there, and if they were, I don't think the yield of being brought up well, is nearly the same as it used to be.

So we are here living the techno internet marketing dream...where are all the others?

I agree with this. Recently I had to shut the doors of my construction business because the lenders where worried about the coming recession. Instead of worrying and fretting I looked for another answer to my personal economic recession. Well here I am, building a new business. My friends think I'm nuts when I tell them I started a new business at this time and I tell them they are nuts for relying on there paycheques to see them through to retirement.
I think this is the very best time to be building a business, not the worst.
