30 Things To Stop Doing To Yourself

Hi Guys,

I've just read this and thought it'd be great to share with you:

30 Things to Stop Doing to Yourself

And yeah, I've stopped doing most of the items listed there and I suggest you do too.

Thanks,
Michael

I actually came across this article just before the new year, which was perfect timing. I've certainly been guilty of a couple of things on that list, but I'm working to grind them out over time. It's a worthy read and I will always have it bookmarked to remind me of how much has changed.

These are all excellent points, but the real key to stopping these behaviors is to understand the function of the ego and what it is seeking by continuing to act out, be subservient, complain etc. If you can become aware of your ego and what makes it happy, you can easily put an end to the drama.

A-men to that! Why is it that it's not until something happens to someone close to us that we realise - hey we have our health, life's pretty good really!

These two really hit home for me: Stop putting your own needs on the back burner. - The most painful thing is losing yourself in the process of loving someone too much, and forgetting that you are special too. Yes, help others; but help yourself too. If there was ever a moment to follow your passion and do something that matters to you, that moment is now. Stop wasting time explaining yourself to others. - Your friends don't need it and your enemies won't believe it anyway. Just do what you know in your heart is right. I have a problem with loving too hard. I give and give and give to those who deserve and those who seemingly do not deserve. I just feel like I'm gonna treat everyone the same and its not my decision to chose who should get better or less treatment. But I am coming to terms with thats its okay to say No! And its not being mean, its that simply because I am human and I can't do it all. And I really like the one about not explaining yourself. Very true indeed. I will have to keep this one on the back burner.

Good share. I've crushed most of the 30. But number 21 needs to get more of my attention.
      1. Stop doing the same things over and over without taking a break. - The time to take a deep breath is when you don't have time for it. If you keep doing what you're doing, you'll keep getting what you're getting. Sometimes you need to distance yourself to see things clearly.
The workaholic in me rears it's head more than I'd like to admit. But I'm getting better. Anyway thanks for the reminder.

Hey Michael - this is a great post. Thanks for sharing.
I had never read the post before and I really enjoyed reading it.
It's such a quick read - I would encourage everyone to pop over to
    the site and review it.

A year ago - I would of needed to work on soooo many of these items,
but now, I'm happy to say I've been able to let go of almost all of the
topics on this list. The one that resonates with me most now, is #28:
Worrying. But like everything else in life - I'm working on it ;-)

Nice post the funny part is human are divine by nature and the only reason we do anything destructive is that we don't know. It's not an excuse but the truth you don't know what you don't know and ultimately the present moment is the only thing we know and the greatest opportunity to start life a new we are not are past!

    Nice share.

Particularly like the one about the small moments.

Stop overlooking the beauty of small moments. – Enjoy the little things, because one day you may look back and discover they were the big things. The best portion of your life will be the small, nameless moments you spend smiling with someone who matters to you.

I was lucky to realize from very early on that each moment was precious.

    Very grateful for this.

This was the rule that resonated the most with me. Being a working mom of two boys has led to a fairly steady life of working, cooking, cleaning, laundry, lessons, appointments, and other "mundane" tasks. It's sometimes hard to find happiness in such a routine life where many of the days seem to be exactly the same.

BUT, when I really think about it, I find that some of my happiest moments are doing these "chores". There aren't many things better than bathing a splashing, chubby baby or making dinner with my older son (who wants nothing more than to be a pastry chef).

Let's hope your older son still wants to be a chef when he's an adult. Get him to cook for you.

Sounds like you appreciate what you have, that's half the battle.

These are generally almost all outstanding items, however the real essential to help stopping these types of behaviours is always to realize the actual purpose on the confidence and also what it really is looking for by simply carrying on with to do something away, possibly be subservient, grumble and so forth. If you possibly could realize the confidence and also why is the item content, you can easily end the actual drama.
