You know I had this exact conversation back in high school with my mother. High school in my opinion is truly where folks figure out who they are and what they are made of, and I think college just hones in on that, but anyway. I had a pretty rough day with the mean girls at school. They weren't picking on me, and I fitted in okay, but I learned very quickly that I didn't want to fit in with them. I didn't like how they treated ppl, I didn't even care for the conversations that would carry on, and I remember coming to terms with the fact that I would rather sit by myself, and be a loner than to be with the "crew." In high school that is a very difficult thing to do, but getting back to what you are sharing in this video, I had to learn to be okay with who I was, with my decisions, and let the jokes fall where they may. I couldn't be the person "they" wanted and expected me to be, I had to just be me! And no matter what anyone has to say about a situation/matter, at the end of the day, you have to live with you and be at peace with your soul.

Good deal my friend...thanks for sharing!

thank you for this wonderful comment. And you're 100% right. The people back in school will all look back now and wish they had maybe acted a bit differently aswell!

I'm glad you enjoyed the video

Great video! That video was only two minutes but it made my day. So many times I have gone through life trying to be what my friends, other people or family wanted me to be,but ending up miserable I was a people pleaser, conformist, and a yes man trying to get everyone to like me. I think Bill Cosby says it best
"I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody." I've found here's absolutely no way to please everybody, and one can go insane trying to do so. To be yourself and stop worrying so much about what other people think really is a start to a happier existence.

    Spot on TJ!

I can't help but think of the quotation that says:

"Birds of the same feather flock together"

I have found that working on my own self-image has changed the way I perceive the value I have to offer, and this of course has also radically changed by business as well.

I strongly believe it is not a subject that is emphasized enough, and when it is, it is always a little bit "out there"
