Just need SOMEBODY to be interested/believe.

I'm really trying to build an online business, and I've been going at it for 2 years now. I've got to a point where I'm making a consistant $200/week. It's not much, but I'm happy with my progress.

But it still feels like there's something missing and I think I know what it is. I try my very best to explain to people what I do (Including my girlfriend, and parents) but I never feel like they're interested. It's even worse when I get the feeling that they don't even believe in what I'm doing.

It never used to bother me AT ALL (seriously not one bit), but recently it's been really getting to me. I feel like I need somebody in real life to be interested in what I'm doing. I've tried explaining to my girlfriend and parents that one day, I will be doing this full time, but they aren't buying it.

The prospects, lifestyle and freedom are so appealing in Internet Marketing plus the sky is the limit regarding how much you earn. But, like I said, my parents and girlfriend just wont buy it. I just wish I had some belief and support so I can go at this 100%.

This isn't really a question or anything, I just needed to write this down, hoping that somebody out there could relate.

I think everyone in the IM world can relate to you. For example, I just graduated with a BA in Psychology and Philosophy and have my pick of any grad program I want but I decided to go into IM. My mother is horrified and continually tells me that I need to get a *real job* and go to graduate school. But don't lose faith, I just started 2-3 months ago and am making over $1200 a month.

If you stick with it and focus on YOU think and not what other people think, you are going to be the one laughing all the way to the bank. That's what forums like the WF are for, is to give you an outlet to talk to others who are going through similar stuff. Also, its worth mentioning that the only way that you are going to be successful is if you believe in YOURSELF. Never look for faith and belief in others, because it will only disappoint you. If you believe in yourself, others will believe in you too
    Keep on keepn' on

I can relate to what you are saying.

Just remember that if you focus on solving somebody's problems and create massive value to your market then you absolutely will succeed in IM. Don't go down the beaten path of creating crap products...

I have found that getting a mentor/coaching of some sort by somebody who is already successful is a HUGE help too.

I send prayers your way, and know how great you will feel when you start making those sales and gaining happy customers who will buy from you again and again.

I deffinetly relate to what your saying.. I haven't made quite as much as you, only about 100 dollars in the past 7 months lol, but I guess you gotta start somewhere. Whenever I tell anyone about it they don't have any interest of belief that I can make something of internet marketing and it could become my full time job bringing in residual income.

Noone understands, and noone really cares. The only person that believes in my internet marketing endevours are my dad. He really encourages me to stick with it because he knows what it could bring later down the road if I keep working on it.

Don't worry about anyone but yourself.. When your making big money on a weekly basis, everyone will be interested and want to know what your doing lol

All that matters is that WE KNOW what internet marketing can do for us if we stick with it, and there is living proof all over that people are making a living and "living" the life.

Keep up the progress and your right, the sky is the limit

I know it's difficult not to be bothered by family & friends' reactions to your IM business.

UK IMer Lee McIntyre has made plenty of money, but his family still wishes he would go back to being a teacher, lawyer or accountant (which he has done all three of).

Most people want that apparent safety of a job. They don't understand, and you will never be able to convince them otherwise, that jobs are Not Safe At All. The only real safety is the business you build. You have much more control over that than when you're working for somebody else.

My advice is quit trying to convince them. I've quit trying to convince my relatives. My friends seem to get it. If people bug you about getting a "real job", just smile and nod. They are never going to get it. Just remember, if everyone in the world was like that, where on earth would the employers come from? Nobody would take any risks!

if everyone was as interested in IM as you are, you wouldn't have the opportunity that you have.
It sounds like you are just having a slight valley in your drive. Refocus on your end goal, recharge your batteries a bit by doing something fun, then HIT IT HARD!!!

I to can relate to you and i know how you feel.
When i tell my wife what i am doing she goes like "aha... ok .... Yeah"
And when i buy some new WP plugin or a new IM course she flips and says something like.. When will you start to make some REAL money online.

So in the end i keep most of the stuff to myself and hoping that my luck will change soon.

I think, as most have already said, that everyone here has been (or still is) in your shoes.

Chin up...I find too, that most nay-sayers are JEALOUS!

      I said it...JEALOUS!

They see a strength in you that they wish they had. They see a drive in you that they wish they had.

The only way to not feel bad about THEMSELVES, and their fear to strike out with the courage you have, is to convince THEMSELVES that what you are doing is stupid and will never work.

If they can use YOUR failures to re-affirm THEIR fears, they win.

      Prove them wrong and SUCCEED.

You will see a deep rooted envy in them that is sure to make you smile

Then laugh all the way to the sweet land of redemption, AS THEY ASK YOU TO SHOW THEM HOW YOU DID IT!!

      Congrats, and stick with it.

Keep your head up. There will always be people out there that will try bring you down or think they know better... in fact there will most definitely be more of them than there are that support you. But that's just the sad truth of the world we live in these days. There are a lot of haters.

You have support from all us warriors, as I am sure almost every person on here has been in a similar situation. And as the money starts to come in faster and faster. Those close to you that can see the effect it has on your life will start to turn around and believe in you as well

It's tough but guess what? Stay with it and become a success. Then people will be breaking down your doors to know what you're doing. Back in the late 80s, early 90s I took a real estate investing course from one of the late night TV real estate guru infomercials. It was best selling author, Robert Allen. I paid $5000 for the course. Had to finance most of it.

I told family and friends all about it but they didn't just ignore me, they laughed and called me a stupid sucker. Then four years later after buying and selling nearly 60 properties in a really short time they weren't laughing or making fun any more. They wanted me to show them what I was doing. Cool, huh? Don't sweat it, success is the best way to make your point.

Your family and girlfriend are there to love you, not support you. If someone has family that supports them then that's a bonus, but it isn't their job.

You should go at this 100%. You don't need anyone else giving you permission to do this.

Good luck and keep working on your success.

That's right! You can't expect support from your friends or your wife/husband etc. It's just a bonus but more often they just don't get it. I think it's useless to explain what you do on the Net.

I think we can all relate. I haven't made a dime from IM, but I feel that it is the future.I will make money. My wife thinks that I am nuts. I just sidestep the topic, and work as hard as I can and I will make it happen. PERSISTENCE!

I think we can all relate to this, I know I can. This is why initially I stopped sharing my dreams with others. The only people who believed in me were fellow Internet Marketers. Just remember, you will succeed, persistence is the key and when you do, your detractors will be wanting to share your knowledge.

Most important though is to believe in yourself!

      Agree with this.

Best way to shut a hater up is with success. Same could be said about a concerned family member.
