Content-Filled Literature

4 replies
Just wanted to create a thread for all those self-development fans out there who like to read. If you're like me you invest money every month into different pieces of literature to help grow as a person. I think this is very important for success. Please post any good books you have read and why you enjoyed them, I'll start it off.

Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
This book is awesome on so many different levels. It taught me so much about mindset, focus, and determination. Basically, it's a summation of the most important qualities that various leaders in the world shared.

The Leader Who Had No Title by Robin Sharma
This book is an amazing self-development hub for anyone who wants to improve on their leadership qualities. The fact is that everyone should be a leader in their own life and this book helps to show you how you can lead in any position of life. It's a great read.

    You can never go wrong with Think and Grow Rich. I think everything after that was written and some of the Dale Carnegie stuff was written are just derivative.

    What TAGR teaches you, I believe, is to:

    * never give up

    * have a big goal, because that will draw you onward--taking action

    * have a plan and work the plan...and if it fails, so what. Make a new one.

    We need to trust ourselves more. The most common problem I see with IMers is the failure to take action--because they don't believe they're "ready" yet. As if one more piece of technical know-how is going to make it all right. As if someone from on high has to knight them. As if the magic bullet solution is just around the corner.

    Get into action now, with what you've got. You can learn as you go. Besides, all the stuff you know before you start really won't matter once you're a month into the business: everything you thought was important will pale in comparison to the reality of what is actually going on and what is really needed. No substitute for action.
