I'm not sure what you're asking. Are you looking for a plan for making money from an existing list, or for how to build a list and then moneytise it?

Well, at least you are heading in the right direction. Adsense is all about keyword optimization and the eventual placement of the ad blocks. If I were you I would focus on certain keywords and niches you are familiar with first.

Adsense really is the nickel and dime way to make money on the internet. You should ALWAYS offer your readers some kind of product or service before you send them all to your lower CPC options like Adsense.

For example, you are writing a page about dogs. I would always check Clickbank or any of the other e-product networks. Find an existing product that best fits the theme of that page. Then place a text link above the fold (but not in the first paragraph or two... too early!).

Any adsense ads will go in the margins or below whatever your most desired option would be.

Adsense can still be major income producer but just throwing up crappy little sites won't generally cut it anymore. Google is all about the "user's experience" so you need sites with good up to date content and to get visitors to interact with the site.

Another option is to build up some solid web traffic and sell the site.

My brother & I recently sold a simple approx 100 page website for over 50 K in the "Debt" niche. We purchased a 15 year old domain, added the articles and after 7 months were approached by a buyer who bought it.

To sell for that kind of money though requires a site that ranks well for a number of keywords which that site did. To be honest the average site will 100 articles will not be worth any where near 50 K. It comes down to getting it to rank and to be seen high in the search engines. An old aged domain helps get their quicker and use of internal linking and a few other tricks.

I agree offering products and services is another good option. I usually add an optin early on offering a free report of some kind and build up a bit of a list, then survey them and ask them some questions regarding the niche to determine what their main problems are. Then depending on the survey results, you can develop a suitable product that solves the problems.

I think you should put an opt-in on your website for a free report, and/or a free mini course; build your list and market some related products from one of the affiliate networks, Clickbank for example. Don't know what your site is about, you can find other affiliate networks with a bit of research if Clickbank doesn't work.

Whatever you do, it's important to apply the same principle to monetization as people do to investing: Diversify.
