Interesting way to put it

I recently jumped into the Internet Marketing game. I would say I am naturally optimistic and have an entrepreneurial mindset. As a kid, I would have pretty small ventures such as selling those large pixi stix candies or renting out my projector.

Now once I saw the potential here, I obviously was enamored. I thought to myself, "Man, I could make a killing here and finally prove my family wrong!"

I spent hours on end researching on WF, bought a few WSOs, and kept getting distracted. I tried to do everything at one time.

And this is where the title of this thread comes in...

I was catching up with a good friend and we ended up talking about exercising since he is in graduate school for Physical Therapy. He mentioned:
A lot of people try to start working out by going all out. They think they can push their body past the limit and expect the results to come quicker. But after their initial workout, they quit! They give up because they overworked themselves and find it too hard.

Once he said that, it sparked in my head. I always knew that and there are constant reminds of that on WF saying to stick with one thing, focus, and take it one step at a time. I guess it just sticks to you more when a genuine friend mentions it.

Like they say, you must learn how to walk before you can run.

That great advice tobasc07. Sometimes we have to hear it from somebody else that we respect before it sinks in. Good luck to you my friend.

Thank you Darren. Yeah, I feel that it makes a difference. Sure, you can follow advice from mentors, coaches, or gurus. However, I feel that unless you really know that person and can connect with them on a more intimate level than just acquaintances, then it can just go into your brain as noise.

Thanks Michael. It could probably apply to other things as well; Maybe especially those supermoms/superwomen who put too much on their plate and stress themselves out to the point of affecting their health (I'm saying this just because I saw a news report on women's stress levels).

Anyway, I'm sure that success will find you. Just stick with it and stay positive.

Thanks for sharing. It always pays to be laser-beam focused, especially in this business because there are so many shiny new objects being thrown our way every single day!

There are plenty of different business models that work well. Pick one that fits you best and stay with it and you WILL find success!

    Best,

It sure does pay off to be laser-beam focused. I'll admit, when I first began, I kind of had that shiny-object syndrome after I bought the war room membership.

As for your second paragraph, I couldn't have said it any better!

Wow that hit it right on the head! Thank you for sharing that. It was definitely a good read. It's pretty funny how he said "fail, fail, fail, fail, success" because I was telling my girlfriend about all this and I said that things will not always be a success right off the bat. I say "There will be a number of failed attempts, but the only one who truly fails is the one who gives up before success."

Thats so true. When I started InsanityInsanity I could barely breathe after the first 10 minutes, let alone finish it!

But I can do much better now .

Its the same with IM, newbies see the lofty sales pages and think they can start making xxxxx/day instantly!

Hey tabasc07, I like the analogy of the physical therapy work out.

We see that so often in Internet Marketing where the super-enthusiastic newbie gives it everything they've got, working 12 hours a day, following the advice of the mentors and gurus, doing all the marketing things, buying all the recommended products and services "guaranteed" to produce results, determined to "do it right" so they can be successful. I've been there, too.

Many of them (me included) say things like, "Just tell me what to do to be successful and I will do it. I don't have knowledge, but I work hard."

But after being dedicated like this for a couple of months and failing to see sales flocking in, or even any significant amount of website traffic, they burn out and many fade away.

There are no secrets, but if there was one, it would be this (just as you have suggested): Pace yourself. Plan and prepare for the long term. Work hard, but don't knock yourself out. It is going to take time. Be committed. Be patient. Be a dedicated learner. The more experience you get, over time, the better results you will begin to get.

IMBotz, I know exactly how that felt haha. I did try Insanity for a few days, but I really couldn't move after that. I live on a 3rd floor apartment and going up and down the stairs took me forever haha.

Great and succinct way of putting things. Anyone new to the online arena should print it out and stick it somewhere they can review it everyday (I know I will)

The phrase "make haste, slowly" comes to mind.

Great Advice! Just like an intense physical routine, in IM, you need the down time. That is when the Real Magic happens! Some of my best ideas and breakthroughs have come after a 1, 2, or 3 day break.

Take at least 1 day a week where you Do Not touch a computer! No email, facebook, nothing! Do anything else but the internet!

Then you'll find yourself with fresh ideas and solutions that were previously haunting you. Treat your mind like a muscle..... work hard, rest, work hard, rest....

Then it will grow stronger.... :-)

Yeah the problem with me is that I kept reseting myself. I would buy a WSO then about to implement it then once again I would get distracted by another WSO and then another. I thought after this WSO I will know enough to start my marketing career. Its easy to get information overload; far too easy. All it take is just confidence in your own ability. Focus on the one area of internet marketing that you'd like stick with and never stray from that path.

Internet marketing is such a vast subject and would take a lifetime to learn even a fraction of it even then it would be outdated by the time you use it. It was only when I creatively came up with my own solution did I start to make money online.

I think the warrior forum is fantastic, but just remember to focus and you will prevail. Remember screw the shiny object syndrome and mean really screw it. Don't get caught up in it! good luck pal

Thanks Scott! I like that 1 day a week break. I never really implemented that before, but there were times where I just didn't go to the computer for a couple days and it did feel refreshing.

Cheeth, I agree with you on really screw the shiny object syndrome. I'm glad I can set strict limits and budget myself. If I didn't know how to budget myself or be disciplined, I'd would be buried in a huge pile of debt.
