What are the best ways to promote good ideas?

What do you think are the best ways to promote good ideas? I feel like I have some good ideas. I feel like I have put them out there, but they have not gained significant traction? What gives a good idea traction?

Well I suppose it depends what you mean by “good idea.” If you have something of true value to people, getting exposure is half the battle won.

You've done most of the important work.

An idea is only as good as your ability to exploit it in such a way that you can become successful/make profit from it. If your idea is nothing more than an idea, you need to figure out how it can be monetized (if that's what you're doing).

This is something that I have noticed about people with great talent, or skills, or ideas – not every one of them achieves recognition or success because there are two parts to the success equation: one is the talent or the idea; the other is being able to promote it or exploit it effectively, as Jonathan and Harvey have just suggested.

One example is a singer or a writer: the person might be exceptional at what they do, but they have little or no marketing skill. So, unless or until they develop the skill or find someone to help them, they often struggle.

With "good ideas", first it has to be very good, and second, you need to promote it effectively . . . LOL . . . which is why you have started this discussion group! To get suggestions for promoting!

How and where you promote it depends on your purpose for it or your targeted audience. You must first have a completely worked out version of the idea (or a rough prototype), and then you must fine tune who your market is and where to reach them. Then you can work on the how to promote part.

Good replies. It sounds like all of you are saying to take strategic action, or find a coach/teacher who can say what sort of strategic action to take. I'll have to think more about this.
