The important of Play...

I have a theory; new generations of children are growing up with technology and as a result they are learning how to use the internet and how to communication via technology.

More and more we are finding 12 year olds making iphone apps or building websites and making money in one way or another.

These kids live at home and their main focus is normally school and having fun with their friends. Whether they make a kick ass app or not, it doesn't matter because they are just playing around and discovering what they can do.

If they do something good, they may show their mates, if it doesn't work they make tweaks or move on to something else.

When you get older, it becomes an emotional significance to make or provide something that is going to be successful. If it isn't, that is when the labels start getting attached; failure, a waste of time, embarrassing.

It is because of this sense of play, an environment can be created where creativity and discovery can be utilised to great effect.

As we become adults though, if something is not working out right our normal response is to work harder, even if that means running ourselves into the ground.

We attach so much emotional significance on the success, we leave out the play which could give us a new lease of life ready to bring into making your project even better and are left with the grind of working harder and harder.

What can we learn from the 12 year old who is playing in his room playfully making apps and websites?

1. Ensure you have something of play outside of the work - A kid will have his mates where they go play football or even play computer games. They have just been to school so all they want to do if let off some steam. When you are working hard, what would be something you could do to let off some steam?

2. Be aware of the emotional significance you have on the current project you are doing. I am not saying to not care about your project; however I am saying to be aware that placing too much significance on a project to the extent that if you failed you feel like the world is going to end. This way of thinking is only going to build up stress levels and create a mental environment where it would be impossible to do your best work.

3.Engage in play regularly until you don't feel guilty about doing it anymore. A kid doesn't feel guilty when they play, they just go it. However as a business owner, especially a new start up can feel guilty whenever they are not doing something that is related to the business. Relax, whether you're an office worker, the president or an internet marketer you are still human and humans need to recuperate through play and rest.

One of the most popular reasons for people wanting to have their own business is to have the freedom to do the things they want to do. A lot those things you can do now and you are likely to find your business benefits from you being more refreshed and clear minded.

Enjoy and let me know below about your experiences of play within your business

@joeknight you're welcome and sometimes you find your best ideas come when you feel like your back is against the wall, keep your ears open!

@Hils ones persons play is another persons turn off, its individual to all people. I was watching a TED talk the other day featuring a lady who liked nothing more than curling up with a good book. It was her play. My idea of play WOULD NOT be jumping out of a plane, but some people love it!

choose your play and do it without any type of judgement....unless you're a serial killer in which case you should feel very bad about yourself!

I think you are right.Every day after work.Link with the daughter together.Listen to her what happened in school. She make me happy.I feel like I walked into her heart. So I think communication is very important.Have time to spend more time with children, they will be very happy.

Playing --- relaxing is necessary. We were not made to work two jobs. (Joe, I wish you luck online, so you can dump one job.) We were not made to work seven days. Even as I try to find time in my schedule to build my social media standing, learn from other's articles, and maintain my blog, I realize that I need a day of rest. Sometimes, I need to just do something else.

Nice post Aron. Its true that a person needs some entertainment for relaxation for better output in life n there is no better way other than playing games for this.Meditation relaxes us the most but they need training and practice.

Ideally I'd like to combined work and play so it feels like I never have to work. Ideally, I'd like to have the option of retiring early so I could play all the time if I want. Being productive and also playing to stay sane are both quite important.

All work and no play makes Johnny a dull boy.

We were made to work 8 hours, eat and sleep 8 hours.

There is also time for recreation built into a 24 hour day. There are 7 days in a week. Five are workdays. So, there is play within a workday, in a work week, and during weeks off within the year.
