The Power of Expression

As you are all aware Australia has just faced the worst disaster in its history due to the bush fires in Victoria. They have so far claimed more than 180 lives, burned down over 2,000 homes and left in excess of 7000 homeless.

At the height of it a thread was started in the main forum http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...e-friends.html which allowed many to send their sympathy and prayers to those affected. But it was all Australians who benefited from the good thoughts of people overseas. Every time I read a new post it sent goose bumps through me. It highlighted the wonderful connection that we have in this beautiful global community. It strengthened the bonds that members of the WF share and the love and support expressed is a part of that.

Expressions of sympathy and of acknowledgment that tells those under hardship they are not alone but that they may know that the world is still there, no matter how bad it might all seem at the time, is a healing in itself. In just a few days more than $au100,000,000 has been raised and some of that has come from overseas and we know that warriors have also contributed. Thank you one and all from all Aussies.

We here were feeling pretty bad when Katrina and other cyclones hit the shores of the USA and when the tsunami struck countries around the Indian Ocean Aussies contributed greatly to relief efforts and donated millions. Our government also contributed and gave 1 billion dollars to Indonesia alone. And we will do it again for no matter the times, the economic woes, the stress and strain of global warming, we are at heart one big family - the human family.

We are vulnerable and we are blessed. So we pick up the pieces and with the help of the support given by others we go on, and on, through whatever storm, fire, flood, earthquake, cyclone, tornado, accident, or other may hit us. The thing that stands out, however, is the remarkable power of expression that puts feelings into words.

God bless
