Have you ever thought about, maybe it was supposed to happen?

I always wonder to myself, whether its God, or genes. Maybe everything that happens in life is supposed to happen?

Example 1:

Scene 1:
A. Jim is a drug addict
B. He smokes 5 packets of crack per day.
C. He is depressed and wants to commit suicide.

^ Maybe thats supposed to happen, but a lot of you people will think, well you can change this, imagine if...

Scene 2:
A: Jim 'was' a drug addict
B: He smoked 5 packets of crack a day.
C: He 'was' depressed and 'wanted' to commit suicide.

^ If that happened, have you ever thought maybe that was 'supposed to happen' to? Like destiny goes both ways?

If you want to or have changed something bad, <- maybe that was supposed to happen?

I don't know if you really get what I mean, but I want your opinions

    Nothing is really ever "meant" to happen. If you think something was meant to happen, it's like putting blame on an external force/entity. Personally, I would just say something like that if something really awful happened to someone and I don't know what to say to make that other person feel better. I don't know why but putting the blame on an external force and the promise of something better as part of the ambiguous "plan" makes people feel better.

    If something like this happens -

    a) Sheena is a party animal.
    b) Sheena parties every night even on a school night.
    c) Sheena fails her exams.

    Is this meant to happen or is it BOUND to happen because Sheena herself neglected her studies?
