Down for the count, but not giving up

Last weekend my adsense account was banned due to illegal click activity most likely due to one of my competitors click bombing me. I set up several Micro Niche Sites and literally fought with other exact match domains (I had would either have the .net or .org and my competitors would have the .com). I even had several sites on page 1, earning me a few cents here and there.

This also affected my youtube channel since my adsense account was linked to it and now I can no longer make any money from that anymore.

My competitors literally killed 2 birds with one stone.

After panicking and looking up how to setup another adsense account, I decided not to even bother anymore and immediately started to build a list over the weekend. Since building a list literally doesn't depend on google, seo, backlinks, etc, why didn't I start with this before?!

Youtube was also a huge source of traffic for my geeky comedy sketch videos and sucks to lose the income, but now I can start focusing on driving more traffic to my actual video site (in sig) where my videos are hosted on blip.tv rather than depending on youtube itself. I can still use my now "not earning money anymore" youtube channel to drive my 2400+ subscribers over to my website.

As for my remaining Micro Niche Websites, I can probably try to use another ad network to bring some income and then sell the sites on flippa to make more than my initial investment (All I really need is more than $10 which is the price I spent on the domains).

The most important thing I learned is what everyone else has been saying: "Never put all your eggs in one basket". This was definitely the wakeup call I need to begin diversifying my income.

My focus now will be to start building my list and to get watchers of my videos to watch them on my website rather than on youtube.

I hope this inspires fellow warriors that even if you get knocked down, you can always get back up again.

Congratulations on your success. I have a similar experience when I was starting out, I was just too dependent on one source of income till the time everything went down the drain. Then finally after a lot of internal arguments, I finally tried something I never thought would work and to my susprise, it's making money till this very date.

Thanks! I was lucky to get paid 2 times by adsense before I was canned, so I know that making money again is possible!

Thanks for this... there have been many times recently that I've been very tempted to give up on my current pursuit. I've tried many things in IM before I settled down with my current website. Failed more times then I would like to admit. It's always very encouraging to see others fighting to be successful in IM despite setbacks. Good Luck to you!

Great Attitude. Pretty much my first week of online marketing I had my Adwords account banned because I didn't really have any idea what I was doing and Google didn't like the Clickbank product I was promoting. I was using the same account for my offline business which nearly killed it but it was a good lesson in not relying too much on anyone else's business.

You gotta keep going, because really what's the alternative?

Sorry to hear about your Adsense account being banned. Its awesome that you have worked out and are implementing a plan to overcome this setback.

Sometime down the line, you might well look on this incident as the best thing that happened to you - because your list now produces far more income than Adsense could have for you!

    Keep up the fight!

    Best success,
    Sanjeev
