Reported recently that their are several employers ask for the Facebook password of their perspective applicants. What is your stand on this?

Apart from the fact I think it's a gross invasion of my off-the-job privacy, it's against Facebook's terms and conditions.

If someone asked me this, I'd get up and walk out of the interview. Which I have done, several times, in response to things taking a turn I didn't like. Shocks the hell out of 'em.

I completely agree that this is a gross invasion of privacy. Unfortunately, someone who is desperate for a job might do it.

Therefore, is there a strategy one could use to get round this? Like setting up a dummy FB account (also probably against the rules I suspect)?

  No way. If they would ask for that type of invasion of your personal space/information, what else would they ask and expect of you. I would run as far in the opposite direction as possible from such a potential employer.

I read the news saying they passed a law lately that prohibits this. So it would be illegal for employers to ask for prospective employees' passwords.
