I, at times get into a contemplative mood and begin to dream of what ifs.

Here's an example:

What If

What if everyone suddenly decided to forgive others for offenses done to them, both real and imagined?

What if everyone suddenly freed others from being imprisoned in bondage due to what they themselves had projected on those others?

What if everyone wearing masks to hide hurts suddenly unveiled themselves and allowed those hurts to finally be set free and no longer live in restricted captivity?

What if everyone opened up a can of fruit, the fruit of peace and generosity?

What if everyone decided to value others lives as much as they value their own?

What if everyone chose just one person to do something special for without expecting something in return?

What if everyone reached out a helping hand when they encountered someone struggling?

What if everyone searched for just one thing to laugh at themselves for and let that laughter ring? Wouldn't it be as beautiful as the melodious sounds of the bells tolling in the steeple?

What if everyone decided to forgive themselves and let guilt dissipate? Wouldn't it be as stunning as the summer sun evaporating the remnants of a storm blackened sky?

What if everyone decided to give one compliment to everyone they encountered in a day, producing face warming smiles? Wouldn't that sight be as breathtaking as the diamond like sparkles of the sun's reflection on a blanket of new fallen snow?

What if everyone exchanged the phrase "what if everyone" for "what if I"?

Thoughts?

      I agree wholeheartedly!

I also think that if we focus on the last line in "what if I", then we bring it to the present and we focus on ourselves and take responsibility for our own actions.

If we choose to do just one of those things, then we can liberate ourselves from the heavy bonds we've engulfed ourselves in and create a much better world than the one we presently live in. And in so doing, experience a heavy burden being lifted from our spirits within. We'll put a pep in our step and experience a whole new level of freedom, see the possibilities of our lives in a whole new light!

If we choose to forgive someone a wrong done against us, for instance, we're not confirming that what that person did was right or okay, but we're choosing to loose the shackles of self righteousness that weighs us down and influences our way of thinking and actions we take.

And once these things happen within us, they can't help but spill over to our business as well.

Just imagine how it could be a better IM world too, <sigh> I told you I was a dreamer, lol!

Fine. I'll be a better person.

Seriously though, that post hits home. It is really sobering to have to look at yourself and realize that you haven't really been doing all you can do to better the world, even in the smallest ways. I'm equal parts ashamed and excited because I may have wasted the past, but tomorrow can be as good a time as any to start.

The most wonderful thing about doing those things Joe, is that the benefits are just as great to you as the recipient of your actions.

You are 100% right. I was hanging out in the local shopping center today after church, gave someone a passing compliment. An hour later I had a new friend.

        Awesome.

Maybe add a timeframe to this one (eg once a day, once a week...)

Just in case someone thinks this is a one-off thing
