Can't is the father of feeble endeavour, the parent of terror and half-hearted work. It weakens the efforts of artisans and makes of the toiler an indolent shrink. it poisons the soul of the man with a vision, it stifles in infancy many a plan, it greets honest toiling with open derison and mocks at the hopes and dreams of a man.

For me, CAN'T, which is short for Can NOT, means there is a choice there. They can but don't want to.
What's the alternative, when you really mean that you're unable to? Impossible?
As a Borg once said, "You humans use the word Impossible far too often", or words to that effect

This is a very smart point of view on the matter. There are very few things in life that are actually impossible. It's just a false idea we plant in our minds to justify not taking a risk/putting in the work.

To me when I can't do something is the easy option out. It takes time to work out the solution to a problem but you can almost guarantee, the solution is out there.

I have to say I'm not sure about this, if I say I can't do something its because I don't believe I can at this point in time. BUT, thats not to say that I won't at some future time. Get my drift

I think some people are more gifted in some areas, and not as gifted in others. For instance, I am not an athlete. I probably CAN'T run a mile in under 6 minutes, but I can do my best, which won't be as good as a younger, stronger person. I leave what I "can't" do to others and focus on what I'm strong in.

Never say this word if you haven't done anything, say it when you've tried a certain thing many times and you failed to do so. This is the right time to say "I can't" and proceed to another thing.
Don't be afraid of failure instead make those failures as your guide.

Er, no. Just because you failed after trying once does not mean that you unequivocally can't do something. It just means that you failed the first time. There are very few activities in this world that are actually mentally/physically impossible. Can't is nothing more than an excuse.

Take it from the Little Engine That Could, he never once uttered I can't!

After rediscovering this simplistic little story by way of my grandchildren, I personally consider this children's book to be an inspirational book in the "I can't" category.

All great inspirational books are not always found in the "Inspirational Books" section of your local bookstore or library and don't have to be pages upon pages of intricate writings. Short, sweet and to the point works just as easily sometimes.

Don't you think that "I can't" simply comes down to a negative mindset?

I believe self esteem goes hand in hand with a positive mindset. If you think about it, you'll find that it is extremely difficult to have a positive mindset when you are always battering yourself and cutting yourself down in your thought processes. That actually is a mindset that needs to be broken down and rebuilt differently.

One of the things that I like to do is pattern myself after quite a few men that I know. They have no problem upon looking at themselves in the mirror and despite the balding head revealing hair loss, despite the belly bulge extending further than their waist line, and the bit of flab that has made itself at home blanketing once firm muscles, will flex and turn from side to side admiring their physique and honestly think that they are smoking hot!

While we women have a tendency to look in the mirror and notice each new little wrinkle beside the eye, and each little bit of the body giving over to the law of gravity. We turn sideways and automatically think that our behind is getting bigger and that we're losing our waistline and girlie figure. We then fret and go off trying all the new expensive methods to try and fix the ravages of time, then after spending too much money and not happy with the end result, give up a little more of our self esteem.

It's a well known and proven fact that how we think we look and how we feel about ourselves in general has a huge impact upon how we feel about ourselves as a whole.

But would happen for example, if when we saw a new fine wrinkle we thought we were prettier when we smiled because we had new laugh lines that made our eyes twinkle rather than thinking of them as crow's feet?

We would feel better about ourselves, have great self esteem and a positive mindset! Our portion of the world would be a much happier and healthier place to live. We could walk in self confidence and take on any task however insurmountable it may appear at first glance.

Go ahead and try it sometime as I do. Just look in the mirror, look at the imperfections and say, "Dang, lookin' good today!"

Now go on and conquer whatever obstacle that may try to stop your progress, think positively about any bumps in the road. Choose a positive way of viewing them instead of a negative way, it only takes a little creative thinking!

Face the world with a smile and remember...I think I can, I think I can, I think I can...and you'll be on the right track to success with a positive attitude and great self esteem! See you on the other side of the mountain with a beaming smile as you strut your stuff, enjoying your accomplishment and success, saying...I thought I could, I thought I could, I thought I could!

        Remember, you can!

        Terra

Wow! that's exactly what I was thinking.
Some people always give up before even trying. How are you supposed to know if you can or cannot if you don't even try, right? And many people who succeed, succeed because they think that they can and never stop trying. At least that's what someone told me before.

The choice is ours. I say can't when i know it is necessary to say. It's like when you want to help someone, it is not always, you have to think first if it needed to help someone.

We live in a competitive world, frankly speaking, I WISH there was an option of saying "CANT". Reality or not, the word "cant" reflects one's weakness and soft behavior. In this cut throat business of internet marketing, there might be space for a lot of things, but surely there is no space for a looser.
