A technique to stop procrastinating (video)

Hey guys,

I put together this video of a technique you can use to stop procrastinating.

I don't know how well it will work for everyone, but I know at least some of you will get something good out of it:

Hopefully, by the end of the video, your perspective will shift, you will feel lighter and you will be inspired to take action.

Very good points and perspectives. I liked your point about changing up your motivation behind why you are in the business to begin with, as it can very well change the direction (in a positive way) of where your business goes.

Live life with the goal to be able to say, "I can't believe I get paid to do what I do". If you enjoy providing solutions to others, truly helping them, focus on that instead of money as the motivator. Of course, envisioning your next paycheck with a few extra zero's isn't totally a bad thing either. LOL.

Thanks for the tips and reminders. Procrastination is definitely one of the biggest battles people have to fight daily.

Interesting... These are some good ideas that I think I might just try.
Sadly though, procrastinating is a bad habit that many form during our childhood (at least that's the case for me and some people I know). Like I don't want to clean my room or do my homework, so I'll delay it for as long as possible, or whatever other excuses we come up with. It gets even more reinforced in high school -college when we make photo-finish papers..
But thanks.. I'll try these out... Starting now.. ^_^

Very good perspective. It is helpful to look at your situation from a distance or another's perspective to help identify your weakness'.

By the way can anybody tell me how I create a new post like yours or do I have to be a special member to create my own post? I can't seem to find the answer anywhere in warriorforum so I have to ask it in this quick reply area. Sorry, I hope I am not breaking any rules...I just can't seem to find the answer!!!

I liked certain things about this video.

    1) Work for making the buyer happy rather than running for money, making his buying experience memorable.
    2) Look at your situation from 3rd person's, 4th and 5th person's prospective. The one from heaven was awesome, I really felt lighter and felt that everything was so tiny and insignificant. When I came back to my body, I felt much better.
To tell you the fact, I am a procrastinator. I lose clients due to procrastination, maybe because people around me have changed my perception about business and I value money more than making my clients happy. There was a time when I loved client's sending me those beautiful words of appreciation after I was done with my task but soon procrastination came in and I started ruining everything. Guys, my personal experience is that when you are about to procrastinate, you get a feeling, your mind says something to you, if you just don't listen to it, then you can give procrastination a miss.
Take for instance, when I procrastinate, I feel sleepy or start surfing social media websites without any purpose. I tend to chat with people with no purpose at all. I have realized over a period of time that when I feel procrastinating, and at that time if I ignore the feeling, then I feel stronger. Initially, you will find this act difficult because your mind has become your master and it is dictating terms. It is matter of few days, say maximum couple of weeks, just analyze your thoughts which surface into your mind when you are about to procrastinate. Once you are done, then please writer them down and next time when they arise, just bluntly ignore them, like you would ignore the person you hate the most in your life. I have noticed that if we contemplate at that time about what will happen if we keep on procrastinating this way. My personal experience is that when I am about to procrastinate, my conscience tries explaining not to procrastinate but I tend to not listen. Listen the voice of your conscience, most of times, it is right.
You have to analyze your thoughts on a daily basis, in order to store in your subconscious. Once it's stored in your subconscious that you want to deal with this problem and you have a plan of action, then things will automatically take place, just like you waking up early in the morning and brushing your teeth. Avoid procrastination my friends, it ruins relations, it ruins your life. Just give it a miss and throw it away from your life.

peerless2acme, thanks for sharing! I'm glad you got something from the video.

And I like what you said about ignoring those thoughts! It definitely works because it's about taking ownership of your mind. With enough repetition, ignoring the thoughts will become a habit and you will procrastinate less and less.

But I primarily use a different approach which involves removing the emotions that drive procrastination. Certainly, doing both is a good idea too

Hey Jason, I agree with you mate, removing those emotions is damn important. I remember when I had a breakup with my girlfriend. There were certain emotions connected to her which would never let me sleep but as I realized the weak points of those emotions, I started hammering them and blow after blow, I got rid of all em and got my peace my mind back. I am free man now man. hahhaha.... Emotions are very important, whether you want to get rid of something or you want to get something. Those who understand the game of emotions can get any damn thing in this world.

Btw Keep it up. I have gone through your past posts too, you are always hellbent to make the lives of others better. Cheers.

Jason this was an amazing video.. I had experienced this technique before the 3rd, 4th and 5th person but it was a long time back. And to tell you, its been a long time and I could not perform the video perfectly but I am going to try it again and for the time I did, I felt an inner peace when I returned.
Actually I am a big time procrastinator, I am 25 and I had left my education basically I was day dreaming very big at that time and I have not earned anything substantial yet. and I am familiar with IM since 3 years..Basically in my country there is huge preference for normal day job and I see people around me trying very hard for it. So now I have started feeling guilty about myself as people with me have double degrees and settled somewhere and I still see myself thinking that someday I will start earning 100$ a day. but it is not happening. If you say that I need to give some kind of service I still do not find anything worth that I can work for, I do not know coding.
I have a huge pile of to do list but it does not get ticked daily. Even if I know that if I do the same thing for over a month I will start earning a descent income. that's where procrastination is coming in way.
I am thinking I will outsource some of the tasks and twik some methods and earn good from clickbank and CPA..
So in all your video was very nice, I do not know but I will surely start working then only I will claim I learnt something from your video.

    thanks.

If you have a huge todo list, I encourage you to cut it down to literally 3-5 things at most! Having too many items on your 'todo' list causes overwhelm. In other words, the less 'to do', the less stressful you will feel.

I highly encourage you to only write 3-5 things at most. Once you get them done, then add 3-5 more things onto your list. And once that is done, then write another 3-5 things. This will make it much easier for you.

Additionally, if you're feeling guilty, that's just an emotion rooted in the past, which has nothing to do with the present moment. I just made a new video which may help you clear your guilt.

It is important for you to clear the emotion issues that hold you back from taking action. And I believe the above video will help you.

It always helps to step back and look at the bigger picture sometimes. Besides just thinking about how to help others, it's good to think about how you as an individual can do do something meaningful in the grand scheme of things.
