A simple technique to change your life
I'm sure many of you here are familiar with them but consider what some celebrities have said about it:

If it's possible to control your environment through your thoughts or steer your perceptions (or soul if you prefer) through other universes, I'll bet the secret to doing that is a process called "affirmations." The process as it was described to me involved visualizing what you want and writing it down fifteen times in a row, once a day, until you obtain the thing you visualized. The suggested form would be something like this: "I, Scott Adams, will win a Pulitzer Prize." |
I used the affirmations again many times, each time with unlikely success. So much so that by 1988, when I decided I wanted to become a famous syndicated cartoonist, it actually felt like a modest goal. The odds of becoming a successful syndicated cartoonist are about 10,000 to 1. I knew the odds, but figured they didn't apply to me. When I submitted my samples by mail to the major cartoon syndicates, I had a feeling of being exactly where I needed to be and doing exactly what I needed to do. I never once doubted it would work out the way it has. (p. 250) |
His method involved writing affirmations 15 times a day every single day. He recommends doing it for at least 6 months to give it a fair shot, and he says coincidences began to happen within weeks.
Years ago I used to think affirmations were utter crap, but my perspective changed quite a bit in the past year. I used affirmations in a similar manner as described above and got some interesting results within weeks, like receiving unexpected checks.
This simple technique often stirs up resistance which is why they seemingly "don't work" but the repetition of certain thoughts do impact the mind over time and it allows for beliefs to change.
One way to deal with such resistance is to change the words to make it more believable. For example, "I am wealthy" will probably trigger this response, "No I'm not!"
But if you say, "I choose to be wealthy" it feels more believable, doesn't it? You could use other words that resonate with you better:
"I am willing to experience greater and greater wealth"Such phrases like, "I choose to, I am willing to, I accept" will lower resistance and thereby allow the mind to accept the suggestion far more easily.
"I accept more and more wealth into my life"
"I choose to prosper today"
"I am ready to truly prosper"
"I choose to generate $2000 this week"
"I choose to take prosperous action"
By the way, here's an excellent question to ask if you're feeling stuck in procrastination:
"Would a millionaire do this?" or "Would a millionaire think like this?"
If the answer is no, then reflect back on one of the above affirmations and declare it to be true. For example, "I choose to take prosperous action today!"
If, however, you are resisting the suggestion of taking action, sometimes just stating or writing the affirmation over and over can do it. Other times you may need to find a way to clear the source of your resistance.
