Fear can be defeated because fear is a learned reaction. My coach once told me that we are only born with two fears: the fear of falling and the fear of loud voices. Every other fear we have is learned. In order to defeat fear, all you have to do is manage it. I have read Zig Ziglar on nemerous occassions saying "courage is not the absence of fear but the master of it."

Even you are fail or not, you must fight first versus your own fear. If you win there will be no more fear, if you are running from the fear, you always haunted from that fear.

I disagree. There are many fears that are instinctively still engrained into our psyche from back when we were just a bunch of hunter-gatherers.

You are right in that you can condition yourself to overcome them though.

I agree that fears are learned. My main two fears revolve around horrible experiences I had as a child. I remember the experiences so vividly that whenever I had to face my fears, my mind reverts back to how the fear affected me from the beginning, if that makes sense. I know I'm getting better. I haven't conquered my fears completely but I have faced them a few times with somewhat good results. Having more courage would definitely help rid the fears. At one point I was thinking about hypnosis to help me rid my fears.

Fear is a response to physical and emotional danger. If we didn't feel it, we couldn't protect ourselves from threats. Traumas or bad experiences can trigger a fear response within us that is hard to quell. In my case I need to feel my fears in order to defeat fear.

some fears are designed to protect us though

you wouldn't want to lose your fear of deadly predators and venomous snakes and the like

certainly though fears which prevent you from making progress in life can be overcome

I think fear plays a huge part in all of our lives. Probably more that we realize.

Fear can be beneficial. It warns us of danger and in a way keeps us alive. However, fear also can keep us stuck. It stops us from moving forward, trying something new and taking calculated risks. Past experiences can train us to avoid certain situations.

The only way I know of to get past the imagined or conditioned fears is more exposure to the object or behavior that I fear.

In sales or large presentations, I still may have fear and even physical symptoms. The more I do it anyway, the less I fear. I actually feel very proud every time I overcome another fearful situation.

I have heard this acronym used before for fear...

    F- false
    E- emotions
    A- appearing
    R- real

Bottom line is...I can't think myself out of the fear. I act my way out of it by acknowledging that at least some of it is all in my head and stepping into that very thing I fear. 99.9% of the time I later say "I can't believe I was so afraid of that!".
